I’m not the first to claim to get art, but video taping a chick making out with a dog and then getting slammed in the face with a bottle of Heineken doesn’t sound like “creative expression” as much as it sounds like uncensored footage from the Jersey Shore. Nothing puts a smile on my face like the goofy charm of a child, but throw some fabulous fashion in there and I’m bound to be grinning for hours on end. Ryan McGinley’s “We Don’t Need No Education” for Purple Magazine’s Fall/Winter 2009 edition puts some adorable kids and innovative designers in the spotlight…love it!

Call me biased, Ryan McGinley is one of my favorite photographers, but this ad is amazing. The sense of motion successfully highlights the fluid nature of the clothing and the outdoor pick up truck is a refreshing change from the over played white studio walls. It’s great that the fashion world is embracing a photographer with a down to earth aesthetic.

Hipster photographer and New York personality Dash Snow is dead. Heroin overdose. Really sad. He was 29. Stop being idiots people. Drugs kill. It’s not cool. Being dead sucks so start wearing condoms and skip the heavy drugs. Of course according to Corey, Dead Snow, that movie about Nazi was zombies, so good job Dash, you gave us a perfect title for talking about an awesome movie. Good thing to do before you died.

Ryan McGinley’s ads for Levi’s cater towards a young audience combining his care free aesthetic with Levi’s American heritage. These serene ads make me want to buy a pair of Levi’s, travel to the country side and roll in the mud. Something I’ve never wanted to do before: props Levi’s, props.
