NBC’s “Fashion Star” Will Give Away $6 Mil Contract with Macy’s, Saks and H&M

There is no dearth of fashion reality shows on television with the pioneering Project Runway immediately coming to mind. But with nine seasons and a spin off under its belt, PJ Runway hasn’t necessarily set the fashion world ablaze. It’s doubtful NBC’s Fashion Star will be any different, but with a $6 million contract with Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave and H&M at stake, its contestants will at least have something to show for their efforts besides an air kiss from Heidi Klum and claw marks from Nina Garcia.

Even though we’ve been lusting over Spring 2012 shoes for months, it’s now coming down to the time when they’re going to hit stores. Big bowed up boxes like Barneys, Saks, and Neimans now must duke it out, see who gets the best, and the best customers will follow. They revealed some strategy to WWD this morning. Prep yourself for a battle for your sole.

Happy Birthday Stella McCartney! I never would have guessed she turned 40 today – positively gorjuss. And what a thrilling year she’s had: a store opening within Saks Fifth Ave, a contract to design the British Olympic uniforms, a stunning well-received Fall 2011 collection, and the opportunity to costume the MET ballet, Ocean’s Kingdom. Not only did the latter allow her to employ all she has learned at ADIDAS and with designing for the Olympics in a far more artful manner, but it gave her a chance to work professionally with the ballet’s composer, her father, Sir Paul McCartney.

The ladies of Emily Cho, Emily Gellis and SJ Cho, met in 2009 while working at the same contemporary clothing line and then finding that they shared a similar aesthetic, decided to set up shop together.
