4.9 million people tuned in Tuesday night to watch fourth grade schoolteacher from Kansas, Kara Laricks, take home the top prize on NBC’s Fashion Star. In addition to $6 million, Licks will have her collections sold exclusively in H&M, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Ave.

This is severely disappointing. Upon horrified sight of this on Saks.com, reactions heard ’round the FashionIndie office ranged, “Are those Crocs?” “Oh. God. No!” “Chistopher Kane?!” “Did he collab with Aerosoles or something?” I personally got surges of orthopedic, walker-bound, going to play bridge at the senior home, fused with those sandals you wore to the water park as a child, mixed with 90s dyed-to-match Bat Mitzvah shoes. C’mon, Chris, you can do better than that. Now just guess how much they go for.

Were you one of the 4.6 million people who watched the premiere of NBC’s Fashion Star on Tuesday night? Yeah, me neither. But those numbers translated into big sales for Macy’s, Saks and H&M, all of whom reported that they had sold out of contestants’ winning designs by Wednesday afternoon.

This is the kind of dude that might be intimidated by your metallic 7 inch Jeffrey Campbell Lotus platforms (yeah, we’ll see how long he lasts), but you want to have a great date in some guy-friendly heels. If it gets serious, you’ll have to either werq him into your crazier shoe collection step by step, or lead a double footed life. But, seriously, these are some sexy shoes. Even though we’ve been lusting over Spring 2012 shoes for months, it’s now coming down to the time when they’re going to hit stores. Nevermind Rihanna being the latest celeb to collab for a collection. After being the spokesmodel for Blackglama‘s What Makes a Legend Most campaign, Janet Jackson has teamed up with them to make their newest line of mink. Janet explains this sudden urge to design: “The art of fashion is one of my great passions. I’ve worked for years to bring a collection into the world. Partnering with Blackglama is very exciting.” Let’s just hope this wardrobe doesn’t malfunction. Or that PETA doesn’t pull a Justin Timberlake and rip it by force.
