Designer: Chelsea Rebelle
Edited by Kirby Marzec
It looks like city hopping is the name of the game if you want to launch a fashion line. From a popsicle stand in Auckland, to San Francisco and Los Angeles and finally to the United Kingdom, Sarah Brannon’s brainchild, Chelsea Rebelle, has developed into a quirky and rebellious label. The name Chelsea Rebelle refers to the main character from a song, “New Wave Girl,” by These Animal Men. Leave it to the French to make the word “rebel” sound flirty and feminine.
The S/S 2009 lookbook might not be anything earth-shatteringly new or innovative, but it definitely follows the high waisted, masculine femininity trends of the spring! Not a fan of the little pink and black number, but throw the tuxedo trousers and bow ties at me and we’ve got a match made in heaven.
Thanks NYLON!
