New York’s Hottest Gay Dance Party Is STASH!

Club promoter Trangela Mansbury is BACK and this time – it’s genitals. This place has everything – water-skiing, a chocolate marshmallow fountain, Asian Bernie Madoffs, human whirly beanies…you know that thing where a midget is strapped to your head and he spins around like a tiny helicopter?

One Ms. McArthur Joseph and I dragged ourselves from whatever gutter we were last seen in to 14th St for the opening of STASH, a new dance party by actual promoter Michael Cohen — the queen behind such past party favorites as Su Casa, Summer Camp and Phoenix Fridays. You’ll come for the open bar from 10 to 11 but stay for the best thing that ever happened to the gays, DJ Martial – shutting it down with a nonstop mix of dance classics from yesterqueer and togay. And the aesthetically-pleasing clientele touted as “jocks, nerds, nerdy jocks, twinks, 3 bears, lots of models and gays with jobs” ain’t half bad either.

STASH is every Wednesday — Lord knows for how long but let’s hope well into the warm months — from 10 pm to 3 am at 248 W 14th St. Dancing is back in New York!!!

We Can’t Stop Watching SNL’s Robyn Dance Rendition

During a writing break at SNL last week, cast member Taran Killam decided to put on a pink fuzzy sweater and reproduce the entire dance Robyn performs in her Call Your Girlfriend video. Recruiting the help of other writers to shine flashlights for a strobe effect, the duplication is actually quite good. Naturally, we have been obsessing over it the last few days. Watch it for yourself after the jump.

I’ve always loved rooting for an underdog and since her debut in 2004, Ciara‘s been steadily churning out booty-shaking hits while never quite attaining the level of success of say, a Rihanna, a Beyoncé or even an Ashanti. Luckily, Givenchy‘s brooding creative director Riccardo Tisci is similarly obsessed with Cici and, known for his love of dogs, has annointed her one of his muses. Fashion has fully-embraced the songstress with a stunner of an editorial in Vogue Italia now Ciara returns with this shot from Vogue Paris.

I’m getting a little, or a lot, of Janet Jackson circa “You Want This” slash TLC circa “Waterfalls” right now. Which means I’m fully on board. Hopefully there’s more to come but until then, do yourself a favor and check out this performance of “Love. Sex. The design duo is incorporating D&G into its signature line, thus giving them more “strength and energy” to devote to their collections. - And speaking of the nineties, this week marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana‘s groundbreaking Nevermind album, the cover of which was actually a fluke, according to photog Kirk Weddle. But to celebrate the iconic image of a chubby little baby floating naked underwater, Rock Paper Photo is giving away an 11X14 print through their Facebook page.

Kate Winslet, duck! There’s an Emmy flying directly at your head. Winslet gets one step closer to EGOT’ing with her nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Mini-Series or Movie for HBO‘s Mildred Pierce, which received the most nominations of any production with 21 nods.

Also nominated from the acclaimed mini-series are fellow Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, Evan Rachel Wood and Mare Winningham — all vying for Outstanding Supporting Actress — Guy Pearce for Supporting Actor and Todd Haynes was recognized for his direction as well as his script.

These days its really nice to see people commit themselves to one another. With the high rate of infidelity and whatnot during the past decade, it’s always comforting to see a devout husband reject a night with the guys, flirting with college girls at the local Hooters or a best friend turn down free tickets to Saturday Night Live to watch you butcher it at open mic night. But this, the Fanta girl look, has taken commit to a whole new, disturbing level. Why has it become necessary for chick bands to dress alike?
