<p>The Coachella countdown has officially begun and we&#8217;re poking around the interweb for this year&#8217;s music festival wardrobe.  Accessory no. 1 comes in the form of a scoodie from San Fran based brand <a href="http://www.stolensunday.com/"><strong>Stolen Sunday</strong>.</a>   <span id="more-237174"></span></p>
<p>One part scarf, one part hoodie, and two parts adorable, these practical little thangs protect your shoulders from too much sun during the day, they keep you warm during the breezy nights, and they give your overall look the fun pop of color that Coachella style requires.  Made with organic materials &amp; domestically produced, these California kids give us great fashion we can feel good about.  Check out our favorite styles below, and<a href="http://www.stolensunday.com/collections/shop"> shop yourself here.</a></p>

<p>In this balmiest of winters, my main source of mild chill-shielding has come from scarves. Go &#8216;head girl, wear your lighter fall jacket clear through to March (goodness knows I&#8217;ll be wearing my vintage mohair <strong>Oscar de la Renta</strong> as long as humanly possible), just wrap up in a good scarf for the iffy elements. Which brings me to the new brand <strong>Spratters &amp; Jayne</strong> – they&#8217;re working with a Peruvian co-op that handmakes luscious wool scarves in radical shapes. <a href="http://www.sprattersandjayne.com/">Spratters &amp; Jayne</a> experiment with chain link, loose net, multi-wrap scarves, and now they want you to play and keep warm in them. There&#8217;s a <strong>special FashionIndie discount</strong> &#8211; we&#8217;ll tell you all about it after the jump!</p>

<p>Silk summer scarves for men? Oh yes, sir. In ancient China, silk was the emperor&#8217;s fabric of choice. Well, we don&#8217;t live in ancient China, but <strong>Alexander McQueen</strong> is our late great emperor. Honor his memory by indulging in his signature skull scarf from the <a title="God Save the Queen (of Fashion)" href="http://fashionindie.com/god-save-the-queen-of-fashion/">God Save McQueen</a> collection. Get the Emperor some new clothes, and see a few ways to wear them here. <span id="more-198607"></span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-198645" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/c2113.jpg" alt="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" width="430" height="760" title="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" /></p>
<p>Got a little Captain in you? Capture the spirit of Jack Sparrow this summer with <strong>Johnny Depp</strong>&#8216;s favorite Alexander McQueen skull print scarf. Who says do-rags can&#8217;t be silk?</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-198664" href="http://fashionindie.com/men-mad-for-mcqueen-skull-scarves/tumblr_ljcsbj87r31qaemzmo1_400-2/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-198664" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/tumblr_ljcsbj87R31qaemzmo1_4001.jpg" alt="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" width="396" height="594" title="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" /></a></p>
<p>Throw on this twisted classic with some skinny jeans and a great t-shirt to look like rock n&#8217; roll royalty, even if you only play one in a movie, Mr. Perry.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-198654" href="http://fashionindie.com/men-mad-for-mcqueen-skull-scarves/302536_mrp_in_l/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-198654" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/302536_mrp_in_l.jpg" alt="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" width="455" height="475" title="Men Mad for McQueen Skull Scarves" /></a></p>
<p>And just in case you do decide that summer is no friend of scarves, then have you ever worn a scarf as a belt? It&#8217;s one swashbuckling way to hoist your pantaloons.</p>

<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/c211.jpg' width='430' height='800' /></p><p></p><h1></h1>

<p>While the week simply insists on raining all over our parade, we must play to the precipitation. Though we already told you that <a title="Flatform is the New Rain Boot" href="http://fashionindie.com/flatform-is-the-new-rain-boot/">flatform is the new rainboot</a>, today we&#8217;ve got some new rain tricks for you.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-196032" href="http://fashionindie.com/clear-solutions-for-the-rain/rain-rain-go-away/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-196032" title="Rain Rain go away" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Rain-Rain-go-away.jpg" alt="Clear Solutions for the Rain" width="518" height="440" /><span id="more-195999"></span></a><strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>The Clear Raincoat</strong></p>
<p>This jacket is just a barrier between you and the rain, but not the world from your outfit. Double breasted and see-through,the finely tailored plastic could start the conversation even in a downpour. <a href="http://www.ssense.com/women/product/opening_ceremony/double_breasted_rain_coat/37199">Opening Ceremony</a></p>
<p><strong>The Watercolor Tights</strong></p>
<p>Look like you&#8217;ve been painting in the rain. <a href="http://store.americanapparel.net/rsaphp.html">American Apparel</a></p>
<p><strong>The Plastic Shoe</strong></p>
<p>Made from bubblegum scented plastic (seriously?) and ready to rock the rain. <a href="http://www.coggles.com/item/Melissa/Amazonas-Grey-Shoes/8GO3">Melissa</a></p>
<p><strong>The Ombré Scarf</strong></p>
<p>Dyed like the rain itself, a scarf can wrap around your head grandma style and eliminate your need for an umbrella. <a href="http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/shop/paul-smith-womens-scarves-446/paul-smith-scarf-dip-dye-scarf-wdxa-427a-s40-s/product.html">Paul Smith</a></p>

<p>The trick to most things in life involves <strong>layering</strong>. It allows you to transform your look from <strong>day to night</strong>, leaving you in almost an entirely different outfit. These two outfits side by side are the same look. Minus the blazer of course. I&#8217;ll explain what&#8217;s underneath, and why it&#8217;s okay to hide your swank from your co-workers under an oversized sport jacket.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-194691" href="http://fashionindie.com/office-to-nightclub-in-5-minutes-flat/day-to-night/"><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-194691" title="day to night" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/day-to-night-560x933.jpg" alt="Office to Nightclub in 5 Minutes Flat" width="560" height="933" /></a></p>
<p><span id="more-194690"></span></p>
<p>The ensemble includes:</p>
<p><strong>OVERSIZED BLAZER</strong>: This one by <a href="http://www.lagarconne.com/store/item.htm?itemid=10626&amp;sid=19">Acne</a>, is long enough to cover a tight skirt. You can ditch the skirt at the office on the way out. FYI, A cardinal rule for work appropriateness &#8211; cover your bum. That said&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>ROUCHE SKIRT</strong>: This one by <a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/110263">A.L.C.</a>, you want to find one that rouches, allowing the most versatility in length. Pull it long at the office, hike it up (just a tad ladies, you&#8217;re no ho&#8217;) to party.</p>
<p><strong>CROP TOP</strong>: This one by <a href="http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&amp;viewAllFlag=&amp;catalogId=33060&amp;storeId=13052&amp;productId=2361975&amp;langId=-1&amp;sort_field=Relevance&amp;categoryId=208659&amp;parent_categoryId=208580&amp;pageSize=9">Topshop</a> with its overall straps, it crops at the waist and fits snug with the height of the skirt. It has a make-your-own-dress effect, and you can let a strip of high midriff breath sexy.</p>
<p><strong>CROPPIER CARDIGAN</strong>: This one by <a href="http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/women/search/schid-707265656e/item10073571.aspx">Preen</a>, find a cardigan that buttons above the bust. This gives a gorgeous peekaboo to your decolletage, and makes it easier to stash in a purse. This will be your jacket for the evening.</p>
<p><strong>PATTERNED HEADSCARF</strong>: This one by <a href="http://www.modcloth.com/Womens/Accessories/Hats+Scarves/-Fair-Feather-Friend-Scarf">Modcloth</a>, you can wrap a scarf round your neck to hid the cleavage during the day for a classic appeal. At night, tie it round your head in a bow for a royal headpiece look.</p>
<p><strong>CHUNKY CHOKER</strong>: This one by <a href="http://www.dannijo.com/product_info.php?products_id=431">Aalia</a>, you can hide your wild jewelry underneath that classy scarf you&#8217;re wearing, and bust it out at night.</p>
<p><strong>CUT OUT WEDGE</strong>: This pair by <a href="http://women.fashionbeans.com/shop/15540/donna-karan-lace-up-suede-wedges/">Donna Karen</a>, a lace up wedge is perfectly right for work, but the cutouts make it sexy for night too.</p>
<p>**Not pictured** Be a lady, wear <strong>stockings</strong> to work. If the weather calls for it, take them off later. Play with colors and levels of opacity. Keep it classy.</p>
<p>Rifle through your own closet, you might be able to layer this way with what you have. If not, happy shopping! Remember &#8211; <em>smaller separates</em> have a longer life.</p>

<p>We&#8217;ve had a mighty long winter, and right now you just don&#8217;t feel like wearing a jacket. We&#8217;re almost hitting <em>real </em><strong>spring in NYC</strong>, the true chill is going away but the weather is still a bit too unpredictable to go without a jacket-like structure entirely. Enter: <strong>Spring Layering</strong>. These are light, sheer layers that together act as a strong shield between you and a gust of breeze. All layered up, your jacketless outfit could look like this, but let me pare it down for you.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-193635" href="http://fashionindie.com/how-to-go-jacketless-now/screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9-14-13-am/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-193635" title="All Layers" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.13-AM.png" alt="How To Go Jacketless Now" width="271" height="683" /><span id="more-193622"></span></a><strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Layer 5</strong>: <strong>The Throw</strong>. On top is a thin sarong aka giant scarf aka sheet. It should be about 5 feet in one direction, enough so you can wrap yourself in it. A soft traditional cotton feels great, but get experimental. A stretch jersey or linen or silk or wool (but not this time of year) each has its own benefits.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-193634" href="http://fashionindie.com/how-to-go-jacketless-now/screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9-14-22-am/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-193634" title="The Netted Sweater" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.22-AM.png" alt="How To Go Jacketless Now" width="247" height="652" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Layer 4: The Netted Sweater. </strong>Find a cropped sweater with a gaping crochet or knit. The holier the better for seeing through to the layers underneath. It will ad some insulation from the chill, but you won&#8217;t overheat. <strong>Cheap trick</strong>: find a sweater like this at <strong>Goodwill</strong> and crop it yourself.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-193633" href="http://fashionindie.com/how-to-go-jacketless-now/screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9-14-30-am/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-193633" title="The Thin Open Cardigan" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.30-AM.png" alt="How To Go Jacketless Now" width="234" height="624" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Layer 3: The Thin Open Cardigan. </strong>An open layer that&#8217;s thin won&#8217;t weigh you down or heat you up. This one is by <strong>Rick Owens</strong> and sure to be luxuriously fabricated with the most breathable knit there is, but you can find a sweater akin to this anywhere.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-193632" href="http://fashionindie.com/how-to-go-jacketless-now/screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9-14-41-am/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-193632" title="The Sheer Button Up" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.41-AM.png" alt="How To Go Jacketless Now" width="211" height="617" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Layer 2: The Sheer Button Up: </strong>This is the first line of defense on your arms. Barely there, it allows airflow and vision straight through to the dress beneath. Button to the top for an austere, yet surprisingly sexy effect.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-193631" href="http://fashionindie.com/how-to-go-jacketless-now/screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9-14-47-am/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-193631" title="The Maxi Dress" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.47-AM.png" alt="How To Go Jacketless Now" width="251" height="636" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Layer 1: The Maxi Dress. </strong>The smooth length of the floor length dress is an excellent canvas to paint layers upon. I like the stripes because it permits the eye to accept the choppy layers you&#8217;ll be applying atop it. This one is around $60 in the UK, but there are many great maxi dresses out in the American Market.</p>
<p>Now go forth and layer. Forgo the coat!</p>

<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Screen-shot-2011-04-26-at-9.14.30-AM.png' width='234' height='624' /></p><p></p><h1></h1>

<p>I&#8217;m quite fond of the thick, chunky scarf trend that infiltrated its way into our wardrobes as of late, but turns heads and drops jaws like an avant garde accessory. Behold, perhaps the most amazing scarf I&#8217;ve every seen, brought to you by none other than a crafty Etsy account holder. This gorgeous cobweb shawl/scarf, designed by Las Lopez, an Argentinian fiber designer, can be worn a versatile number of ways. Whether around the body like a true cobweb or simply around the neck, Las Lopez knows a thing or two about how to give women a new and unique look.</p>
