Designers Gabrielle Thompson and Shannon Gunn believe shoes should be wearable art. Their shared passion for luxury materials and strong, structured silhouettes led to the launch of their Australian footwear label tom gunn. Described as “sophisticated with an edge,” tom gunn shoes are constructed with materials from the top Italian tanneries and suppliers and have been used by the likes of Prada, Marni, CoSTUME NATIONAL and Gucci. I got a chance to to ask Thompson and Gunn about how they got started, where they find inspiration and how their label has become a shoe industry stand-out.

The trench designed by Judy and Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes is now available on ShopBop, it’s wrinkled cotton, features a hidden front zipper and comes with a detachable leather pouch. It will also cost you $875, about the same cost as this really cute Burberry Trench, so what would you rather have? I know I’d stick with a well known classic!

Jane and her mother have teamed up with Aimee Cho to design a khaki trench coat that features brass buttons, bell sleeves and a caramel colored leather pouch around the waist. She also might have gotten a book deal.

I have a hard time believing that Jane Aldridge, the girl behind Sea of Shoes, could have a better life. From an extensive wardrobe/ shoe collection to a current collaboration with Urban Outfitters and now a window display at Canada’s department store, Holt Renfrew, this girl is really making it big. Holt Renfrew has payed window-display tributes to other bloggers, such as The Sartorialist and Jak & Jil, but to be 17-years-old and in the window of a department store is quite the accomplishment! So, when does Fashion Indie get a window display?

Fellow blogger, Jane Aldridge (from Sea of Shoes), recently designed a capsule collection for Urban Outfitters, giving us yet another reason to envy the YSL cage-heel wearing teen. With a “Victoriana meets gladiator warrior” vibe, the shoes are very much Aldridge’s style and will undoubetly be appealing to the typical Urban Outfitters customer. Due on shelves next month, you might see my resurrect my flat wearing days with those adorable laced flats! Ugh, is it just me or is it getting easier and easier to hate this girl?!
