16 British Fashion Designers & Contemporary Artists Collaborate

A tight pack of British fashion designers and contemporary artists have paired off at the British Fashion Council’s discretion, to create eight installations for the London 2012 Festival. Backed by the BFC and Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation, the event is set to raise funds for art and design scholarships. There are 16 creative minds already at work on the projects: Giles Deacon and Jeremy Deller, Hussein Chalayan and Gavin Turk, Jonathan Saunders and Jess Flood-Paddock, Mary Katrantzou and Mark Titchner, Matthew Williamson and Mat Collishaw, Nicholas Kirkwood and Simon Periton, Paul Smith and Charming Baker, Peter Pilotto and Francis Upritchard, and Stephen Jones and Cerith Wyn Evans. When wrap-dress-impresario Diane von Furstenberg found out from the kids across the pond at Harrods and Selfridges that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge had bought two of her dresses for her upcoming North American tour with fuddy duddy hubby Prince William, she was reportedly “very happy.” Probably in hopes that Kate’s magic touch will work on both sides of the Atlantic.
