I can’t exactly recall which came first: Buying my new rad vintage sunnies or singing Rocketman repeatedly in my head, and aloud. Either way, I can’t help my insatiable appetite for fantabulous frames to Sir Elton John. He is the fore-fairy-godfather of wild sunglasses, and for that (along with countless hours of music), we thank him. Let’s take a gander at some of his greatest specs.

Well, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road! That's quite a lifetime of wild shades. And you know Elton John is doing just fab when in his fine-wine years, his "mellow" shades are a frameless purple lens. The Bitch is Back (though I'm pretty sure he never left).

In the midst running off to the Hamptons from Memorial Day Weekend, FashionIndie editor McArthur Joseph grabbed my beach bag and dumped it out in the loft! Hanging Out With Joan Rivers at the LensCrafters RxHIBITION

Minus this week of horrible drenching weather, the sun is finally starting to peek its head through the spring clouds. But what to do when you need a fabulous pair of sunglasses AND prescription lenses? If you don’t want to be squinting all summer, LensCrafters has the solution. Luckily, FashionIndie was able to attend LensCrafter’s RxHIBITION where style goddess Joan Rivers was giving advice on eye wear DOs and DON’Ts. We all took a personality quiz to determine if we were the style maven, classic, connoisseur or adventurer. Finding out how to look your best even when dripping sweat in the subway was priceless, especially from an icon like Rivers. We even got the perfect pair of prescription Ray-Bans so we can wear them at all hours of the day, both inside and out. See more photos of the event after the jump.

Always ahead of the curve in what’s creative, Prada has launched its latest artistic venture.

Showcasing their new Minimal-Baroque frames in eight stunningly chic (and cunningly clever) images, the exhibition launched with a chic cocktail party at Prada’s uptown Manhattan location. We noshed on fancy finger foods while checking out the quirky specs, among other Prada goodies.

The deluxe rococo designs were created for the runways of Milan and Beijing, and have been translated into a more wearable, sleeker design for shoppers in time for summer.

And as far as the images go, they were selected together with Vogue Talents, the annual supplement of Vogue Italia. They will be presented together in Prada stores in Milan, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Istanbul, Madrid, and New York from May 17.

We loved how creative the artists were with the frames and cannot wait to channel our inner Prada woman with these bold pieces!

Miu Miu Accessory Alert: Sunglasses of the Season

In a collection sprung from the forties, Miuccia Prada has downplayed the playfulness in the clothes, morphing to a more austere silhouette. Where a glamorous modesty thrives throughout, the new Miu Miu sunglasses embody the ludic quality that could not be entirely contained. Shown first with the cat’s eye furrow, tortoise shell frame and yellow lens, they spell optimism. The shades that follow have a less exaggerated cat’s eye, but wilder frames – crystalized crimson, and glittering silver and gold.
