American Apparel Shiny Shorts & Shiny Ruched Tube Bra, currently on sale for $25 on eBay…at least it was until I decided I needed it as part of my work wardrobe

In an effort to expand distribution beyond that of its quickly-failing stores, Charney is trying to capitalize on the some 30,000 monthly searches for AA on eBay by selling directly to the inquisitive customer.

Purchases will be made via eBay’s checkout system while AA will handle the shipping and delivery. In return, American will pay eBay a commission on all sales.

This venture is believed to be “part of a larger upcoming eBay platform for dedicated brand stores,” but eBay’s keeping mum on the subject…which means it probably is. American Apparel on the other hand wants you to know they’re not going anywhere.

With talks to open up to four leased spaces in Bloomingdale’s, leased spaces already opening up in three Selfridges across the pond as well as a pending deal to provide apparel to 2500 campus stores nationwide, you’ll have no problem finding your fill of  high-waisted jeans, sheer bodysuits and crotchless what-have-yous. I recently wrote about Old Navy in my “Top 5 Places To Shop This Summer” because it is one of my absolute favorite place to shop for basics. THey offer classic and timeless pieces without taking a chunk of your wallet.

2. American Apparel

American Apparel is a great place to go for basics because they specialize in them. You can also can basics in a variety of colors and styles  that you probably would not be able to get anywhere else.

3. Target

This store is probably the one you can get most bang for your buck. They are located everywhere so there is no need to fret over if there or isn’t there one nearby. One of the most memorable thing I got from there was a pair of brown shorts about 2 years ago that no matter what I wear it with I look like a lot more that the 10 bucks I actually spent.

4. Uniqlo

Now some of you people outside the New York area will be asking what the hell is a Uniqlo? Well I’ll tell you that it is an amazing shop located in Soho. If you are ever in downtown NYC, this is the place to go for great basics.

This is brand new from American Apparel.  I love the sheer, it’s still evening wear but not completely scandalous.  This dress has a bit of a vintage feel, and would be super cute for a night out.

Another great design by Naive (also unisex).  The leaf on the front is a really interesting idea, and it’s really simple (which I like).  This also comes in a bright yellow, and is printed on American Apparel (their hoodies are so comfortable!).
