<p>In 1976, year before <strong>Sid Vicious</strong> joined the<strong> Sex Pistols</strong>, an angsty musician in braces and leather dresses by the name of <strong>Poly Styrene</strong> started her own punk revolution in London&#8217;s Chelsea art scene. With her band, garnered by an ad she placed looking for &#8220;Young punx who want to stick it together,&#8221; <strong>X Ray Spex </strong>landed a weekly gig at Man in the Moon theater, right next door to <strong>Vivienne Westwood</strong>&#8216;s store, then named <em>Seditionaries. </em>Years later, Poly lets out that their most famous song, her feminist cry, <strong>&#8220;Oh Bondage! Up Yours!&#8221;</strong> was inspired by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren&#8217;s <em>bondage pants</em>. <span id="more-241304"></span></p>

<p>Aside from the fact that <strong>Dr. Martens</strong> were the sole of countless musical subcultures and youth revolutions for the past half a century, and that since 1960, they&#8217;ve literally been letting us <a href="http://www.dmusastore.com/t-history.aspx">walk on air</a>, they&#8217;ve proven time and time again that they are on top of their game. <strong>Pete Townshend</strong>, <strong>Sid Vicious</strong>, <strong>Kurt Cobain</strong> and countless other badass music gods reinvented Docs from the stage down, and now Dr. Martens has reinvented from within. In addition to the baller design team they&#8217;ve acquired to create the 10 rad styles ahead, they&#8217;re also bringing bespoke into the picture with <em><strong>custom Docs</strong></em> for all who can get to their London Spitalfields location. <span id="more-240869"></span></p>

<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/photo.jpg' width='1936' height='1936' /></p><p>But why is this such a great moment for Dr. Martens? Becuase they've always got their finger on the pulse of what we want to wearing. </p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14357100.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because the white wash is pure brilliance (and a little Margiela).</p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14035160.L.png' width='100' height='56' /></p><p>Because these leopard print kicks are 30% off right now. (with the code TAKE30)</p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14091601.T.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because the creepers are color blocked and woven at the toe.</p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14024101.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because these spotted calf hairs were designed for men.</p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/10078101.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because these were created for men, too. </p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Victorian-Flowers.png' width='720' height='425' /></p><p>Because they make a pink floral none-too-girlie. </p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/13889270.png' width='720' height='425' /></p><p>Because sliced leather wedges will get a rise out of you. </p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14301270.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because the cutout creme floral gives a sundress something to run with.</p><h1></h1>
<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindiemedia.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/14317650.png' width='720' height='400' /></p><p>Because they're able to have a flexible change of sole. </p><h1></h1>

<p>We&#8217;ve concocted a list of male musicians that have their own band of fashion followers. (In no particular order, it&#8217;s too hard to decide that stuff)</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50466" title="Picture 7" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-77.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="301" height="399" />1. Michael Jackson: Even more so now, MJ was always known for his crazy fashion sense, and sparked trends all around the world, from military blazers to one glove.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50467" title="Picture 8" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-87.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="290" height="408" />2. Buddy Holly: Huge among the hip crowd right now, 50s and &#8216;nerdy&#8217; styles are back, or never really left. Ray Bans and skinny ties, win.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50468" title="Picture 11" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-1113.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="399" height="302" />3. David Bowie: Glam rockers unite for the man in the makeup.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50469" title="Picture 12" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-1210.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="301" height="401" />4. Justin Timberlake: After he trimmed his curls, JT is almost always spotted in a dress vest and tie, keeping it casual with jeans but still looking undoubtably cool.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50470" title="Picture 14" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-144-350x283.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="350" height="283" />5. The Beatles: They not only influenced millions with their music, but also with their collared shirts and circle-shaped glasses.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50471" title="Picture 15" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-155-350x512.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="350" height="512" />6. Kriss Kross: I have no idea which marketing exec. told these kids to put their clothes on backwards (although I&#8217;m sure they probably came up with the idea themselves), but this was HUGE (just as huge as their clothes were on them&#8230;) </p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50472" title="Picture 19" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-192.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="301" height="399" />7. Sid Vicious: Ah Sid and Nancy, every punk&#8217;s idol. (minus swastika shirts)</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50473" title="Picture 20" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-202.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="302" height="401" />8. Andre 3000: My favorite style ever, Andre 3000 is always dressed to kill.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50476" title="Picture 21" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-218-350x519.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="350" height="519" />9. Run DMC: You can still find those chains in St. Marks. Adidas classics? Nice.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50477" title="Picture 10" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-104-350x528.png" alt="THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians" width="350" height="528" />10. Pete Doherty: Aside from the drugs, it&#8217;s now cool to look like a homeless drug addict, apparently.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Who are your favorites?</p>

<p><img class='alignleft wp-image-60' alt='' src='http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Picture-1113.png' width='399' height='302' /></p><p></p><h1></h1>
