Dirty Clothes? Let the Sun Do Your Laundry

If you’ve ever hung your laundry out to dry or streaked your hair with lemon juice, you already know sunshine is a natural oxidizing agent. According to a story on Mashable, Mingce Long and Deyong Wu, scientists from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in China have leveraged this intel and devised a special cotton material that can clean itself when left under ordinary sunlight.

The fabric includes a coating of titanium dioxide, nitrogen, silver and iodine nano-particles that stands up to washing and drying. No word on when the wonder cotton will be available at the retail level — or how it’ll impact future Tide and Chlorox commercials. Remember the “Mama’s got the magic of Chlorox II” jingle? “Mama’s got the magic of nano-particles” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Blondes might have more fun, but gray hair is slowly taking over – and it’s not just for grandma anymore. Lady Gaga sported a gray mane on the cover of September’s Vanity Fair. Meanwhile, model Kristen McMenamy has come back into the industry with her full head of silver locks (as seen on the cover of the August Italian Vogue). Even Kate Moss showed off a few strands of gray when the trend reared its silver head 6 months ago. We thought the look was going to fade away, but it seems to have unlikely staying power. I’m BAAAAAAAAAAAACK! Hey guys. I have been out of society and away from friggin’ civilization for the past week!! Went to Nashville, TN to see the family with my beau and had no internet there. Then I went up into the woods to a gorgeous lake with his family to have future in law time and had no internet there either… and no cell reception for that matter!!! Ha! Now while that was incredibly peaceful and I looooooved being able to drop off the face of the planet for a while, I DID really miss blogging and getting to chat with you guys. So back to it!

Feeling a little over the sunshine and LA in general. I am ready for some fall… is that weird? Even though we don’t even really get one here! Gah! No seasons in this stupid town! (Can you guys tell i’m having one of my “I hate LA days”)?? Anyway, I was purusing through Oak NYC’s site and found several things that I could totally snatch right now. Hope you all had an amazing 4th of July and are doing well!

In agreement with Lize… we are not huge fans of long maxis but this Kris Van Assche is different. There is a lightness and elegance that I am drawn to. I love the slit and I love the little suspender detail. I could see myself wearing this with boots all through the fall.

It’s just an easy look! I can’t give it up just yet.

Osborn Design Polka Dot Booties. I’m sorry. These are just too precious to not grab up. Ha! With sheer Chanel tights, a little skirt, and white poofy blouse? Ugh, now!

Las Jewelry Gazelle Ring. He’s a little creep. I want him.

OTBT Murphy Gladiator Sandal. These are what I call a perfect combination of hideous/cute and innovative. Ha! Kind of industrial looking… I am into it. Paired with jean short cut offs, a big white tee stolen from my man’s closet, and a nutso gaudy necklace to run errands… I’d be good with these on.

Love the ugly laces and the zipper. So old school looking.

Surface to Air Silver Skull Studs. Great day to days when you’re feeling moody.

While being chauffeured to a Japanese restaurant named Zuma in London to meet hubby Jay-Z, R&B sensation Beyonce decided to detour to Harrods for a little shopping when she was surprisingly involved in a car accident. The singer’s car was struck by a black taxi cab, and according to an eye witness, the taxi appeared from nowhere. Although Bey was unharmed, the silver Mercedes S Class door was ripped off its hinges. As of right now, no further details have been revealed.

"It's All About The Details"

Always one for details, I found a seemingly endless array of head turning clothing and accessories (as I always do) on netaporter.com. As you all well know, that’s my favorite website for incredibly chic and beautiful, clothing and accessories. The first item that caught my eye today, is that luscious Moschino tunic….the top portion is crepe and the fringe pieces are leather. It would also be great for fall and winter with a long-sleeved top underneath and a killer leather jacket. The next jaw-dropping beauty, is that Catherine Malandrino gown…..is that beautiful or what! Sure to make the wearer look and feel very much the goddess. I envision that dress with big and bold gold accessories; Silver would also work, but there is just something about gold that would really add to the overall look. Oh, and the Dannijo accessories….fabulous as always; the crystal studded collar and bracelet are simply magical! Tory Burch’s tie-dyed top is also cute and “functional”….I love the purple and the cut outs in the sleeves. One of the few tops with long sleeves that could be worn comfortably this time of year. I’m also taken with Tibi’s “Bahati,” silk dress. Not only is it unique, but it looks so….comfortable! This is the perfect “dress up” or “dress down” item….it would look great for evening with heels, or during the day with pretty, black or colorful sandals.
