We’ve got the Friday night special in the form of leather mistress Zana Bayne. Self-taught in the craft, she has the kind of design eye that brings the kink to this side of chic. She has harnessed the power of Lady Gaga and Prabal Gurung in the form of videos and ongoing collaborations. She’s powerful. This kickass Brooklynite applied her study of conceptual art to leather and the body, and one of the main thoughts it has me pondering (aside from historical connotations of leather in S&M, objectification of the human body, feminist ideals, etcetera) is how late is Patricia Field open? I might just pick one up tonight.

The leather harness Lady Gaga writhed around in during the Yoü and I video was made by the hands of Zana Bayne. Badass. Paws up.

Prabal Gurung collaborated this season on a series of belts and harnesses that connect waist to the neck.

For its annual fashion issue, VICE Magazine decided to feature some bitches they found walking the streets.

It’s a dog ~~beat~~ eat dog world in VICE‘swonderfully whacky and subversively sadomasochistic editorial “Doggy District,” shot by Bryan Derballa with canine couture by Asher Levine.

While they may have seen better days, these old dogs have nevertheless learned to turn new tricks. As our month of all things sexy — and clearly we mean all things — is in full-swing, we thought this midday doggy diversion particularly appropriate.

No matter how inappropriate it actually is.

Photographed by Craig McDean, Fox seduces her mannequin self in a series of mildly S&M photographs. Hervé Léger 2011 Chained Up and Bandaged

After a flurry of press over Karolina Kurkova being in the front row and not on the runway, Hervé Léger started with a seat shaking vibrating techno bass that only got heavier throughout. Max Azria infused metal links into the Léger signature bandage. Houndstooth found itself growing and shrinking on alternating strips. Corsetry was pronounced in both leather and stretch, and linked cutouts made the body con even sexier.

I’ve never seen such a sensual houndstooth.The changes in size allow for play on curve emphasis.

Chain links made their first appearance in this look, hugging the dress like non stop suspenders, belted by itself. Same in the back as is is in the front.

Tar slick sheen gets woven into the works, raising the question for those without the run of show, what is that material? Velvet? Pony hair? The shine is glorious – I want to touch it and find out.

Did Rihanna have anything to do with this? The raving bass seemed to get heavier as the first cage corset hit the runway. Sticks and stones may break my bones but cages and strips excite me.

The caging continued back to the bandage and buckled it up, creating the same structure as above, but out of the standard Léger texture rather than leather. Golden.

These metal bits differ from what we’ve seen previously. They’re the sliders you find on adjustable straps, but used as embellishment everywhere. In this copperish orange, she glows.

The second to last look swept in black and strap sliders, fading to texture at the bottom. It looks as though it could serve as armor as it lines horizontally across the body.

It girl and teen magazine editor Kristin Prim made a post on her blog tonight that really proves she is unstoppable in black and white.

It is also cool to see the “S&M” side of her while bracing the Zana Bayne harness!

Big things coming up for this girl, oh wait! We weren’t suppose to say that..

Rihanna‘s new video for S&M is full of latex, wild hair, and Perez Hilton?!

I must admit that this might be the funnest (and yes I wrote that on purpose) Rihanna video to date. The video is pretty silly the the songstress from Barbados still manages to keep her sex appeal. (See: Her playboy bunny look in the video) Who doesn’t like a song about Sadomasochism?

Today’s popular culture craves the sexy, the beautiful and the bizarre. I haven’t seen this expressed as clearly as fresh-faced Serbian designer Marko Mitanovski did during London Fashion Week. As one of the three “Ones to Watch,” Mitanovski showed an over-the-top collection filled with S&M, Renaissance elegance, a gothic twinge and animalistic elements. Comparably speaking, Mitanovski is the Alexander McQueen of new London blood, showing his expertise in theatrical, costume pieces. Definately looking forward to what Mr. Mitanovski has in store for us in February 2010!
