For everyone out there that ever spent a buck too many on hair products or cuts, Solange has some words of wisdom, chop it off! Ms. Knowles says that she gives her head of hair a nice refresher every couple of years. “I just need to kind of start over and liberate myself and feel empowered. I feel like so many women put so much of their power in their hair, and I was succumbing to that — like, spending so much time and money and energy on my hair.”

Not sure I can deny spending some time on my locks, and I’m sure a lot of you can’t either. But chopping it all off to solve the problem? You won’t find me with a pair of scissors anytime soon.

I headed over to the last Jelly Pool Party of the summer yesterday with Alyssa and Jamie from Love Brigade to see friends play dodgeball, and watch Grizzly Bear.   I had heard of Grizzly Bear, but I had never seen them. I was pleasantly surprised by their live show, and I think Mischa Barton, Solange Knowles (or is that Beyonce?), and Jay-Z all were too. The lines were crazy long, and people were trying to jump the fences (one girl ate shit and fell flat on her face), but overall, everyone seemed to be in to the beautiful weather and awesome music. We sat down with Jeff, Ayad, and Ian of Passion Pit to rattle off a few questions before their set, and found out everything you really wanted to know:

Fashion Indie: So rumor has it you guys are sponsored by Marc Jacobs?

Passion Pit (looking shocked): No, we’d like to be sponsored by some dorky stuff (Ayad).

Manager- Marc Jacobs may be sending them some free stuff.

Ian- Usually what happens is that we endorse something, and then we get free stuff, like instruments.

Fashion Indie: Who is the most fashion-conscious member of your band?

PP: (Disagreement) Ian thinks he’s the most fashionable but Jeff and Ayad agree that it’s Mike.  Mike took a fashion class, which is where the name Passion Pit originated from. Fashion Indie agrees that it is most likely Mike.

FI: Cobra Starship did a collaboration with Leighton Meester (who we actually had to explain to the guys that she was from Gossip Girl, they had no idea who she was).  If you could do a collaboration with a celebrity, who would it be?

PP: Beyonce.

Jeff- No Solange.

Manager- …you probably could do that.

Ayad- We should stick with the original.

Jeff- Yeah, we might as well reach for the sky.

FI: Have you guys seen the movie Bruno? (No, not yet). If he were to style your next photo shoot, would it be the full velcro suit? Or the kilt with angel wings from the MTV VMAs?

PP: Neither, the banana hammock

FI: If you were to do a collaboration product or line with Diesel, what would it be?

PP (after some muttering, something about not liking the pricing too much, I think):

Ayad- I’d do more stuff for broad shouldered, shorter guys. (Clearly making reference to his stature).

FI: Alright, last question; who had better style as a TV father figure, Mike Brady or Bill Cosby?

PP (In up-roaring agreement): Bill Cosby, he had a bad ass sweater collection.

Sister Solange decided to take camel-toe to a whole new level during San Francisco’s Gay Pride Parade and show off her horse-hoof. It’s either that or her obsession with Twilight got so severe that she needed to give her crotch fangs. Either way, the Power Ranger suit has got to go.

Sisters Beyonce and Solange Knowles put on their best sailor outfits and strike sexy poses in this new ad for Japanese handbag designer Samantha Thavasa.

The nautical-themed ads will appear in Samantha Thavasa’s 117 shops nationwide in Japan.

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton previously was the spokesperson for the Thavasa brand.

Big Bird’s letter of the day is “U”: U is for umbrella, ukulele, underwear, uncle, unicorn…and, oh, did I mention UGLY? Solange Knowles wore this hideous black Big Bird outfit to the Cosmopolitan Magazine Starlaunch Concert. Feathers and pleather…could we get any gawdier?

I like a nice manicure just as much as the next girl, but Solange Knowles takes her nails a bit too seriously. Honestly, file them, clean up the cuticles and add a fresh coat of paint and you’re in business. So please, tell me why Knowles insists on having dominos and the British flag meticulously painted onto her nails. Is that really necessary? Knowles had this to say: “For about the last 2 years I’ve had an addicting obsession with nail art and design. Call it ‘Ghetto-fab’ of me, but yo, I’ve seen some artists who need to have their [work] in museums.” Sorry sister Solange, it is Ghetto-fab of you…minus the fab part.

Poor Solange, So young and impressionable. Whoever told her those shoes were a good idea should be shot. She was doing so well too. Her make-up and dress look great, but those hooves on her feet make me want to puke. Her feet look like a hippie’s “all natural” crotch. Solange, fire your stylist or atleast straighten her out or something, because this was not so hot.

So I can’t say I’ve ever done this before..but after careful consideration, I may have to! Recently we’ve picked up on a new trend; alternating black&white nails. Trust me, this won’t work if you try to experiment with outlandish colors that don’t match; it would be a mess waiting to happen. Please stick to the blacks and whites! As you can see from Ms. Jameson and Solange it’s clearly a trend worth trying.

Solange Knowles is done taking the back seat to Beyonce. Little sis is set to be the “ambassador” for Armani jeans. Translation? Solange will be showing off her modeling skills in the new ad campaign for the famous company. Giorgio’s advocating for Solange all the way to the photo shoot.
