TRENDSPARK: Patterned/Printed Pants

Printed and patterned pants, or leggings, are making their own distinct statement and are a wardrobe must have for Spring 2010.
BASH: Guido Palau Only Knows How To Braid

It seems to me that Guido Palau was lacking inspiration when it came to hair-styling for the Spring 2010 shows. A braid is a pretty common hairstyle, but for Palau to style messy braids for both Alexander Wang and Miu Miu is pretty lazy. The only difference between the styles were the part placements, on the side for Wang and in the middle for Miu Miu. I like the look, don’t get me wrong, but is there more to Palau’s repertoire than braids?

A Closer Look: Prada Spring 2010 Accessories

Leave it to Miuccia Prada to give us clear plastic and crystal shoes for spring 2010.
RUNWAY: Prada Spring 2010

Miuccia Prada catered her Spring 2010 collection the the jet-setting businesswoman, providing some structured pieces for the office and many beach ready dresses for vacation time. Prada knows construction, and while the shorts suit is nothing new to the fashion world, her impeccable structure and silhouettes make even the simplest suit look like a conceptual masterpiece. I must admit, I like the first half of the collection, the business side, far more than her minimalist beach prints and crystal encrusted dresses. Afterall, it’s the clean-cut edges that Prada is so well known for!

RUNWAY: Albino Spring 2010

Designer Albino D’Amato brought a bit of 1920’s African safari to the 21st century with his Spring 2010 collection. With subtle khaki colors playing a major role, D’Amato mixed in some vintage teacup patterns, and combined with his modern structure, added some fantastic, chunky jewelry. Loving the bunched up, sheer tights paired with the heels and those bug-eye sunglasses!

RUNWAY: Charles Anastase Women’s, Spring/Summer 2010

One would think that a designer in his tenth season would progressively get better, and at this point, maybe show some of the best work of his career. Not for Charles Anastase. Is it just me or did Mr. Anastase relapse to remedial design school for his Spring 2010 collection? Garments were baggy and seemingly craft-like, looking as if they had been thrown together with a bit of glue and tape in a matter of minutes. Yes, things look girly, but they also look like a kindergarten school project. Intuitive theme, but this work just doesn’t translate on the runway.
