RUNWAY: Charles Anastase Women’s, Spring/Summer 2010

Edited by

RUNWAY: Charles Anastase Womens, Spring/Summer 2010 One would think that a designer in his tenth season would progressively get better, and at this point, maybe show some of the best work of his career. Not for Charles Anastase. Is it just me or did Mr. Anastase relapse to remedial design school for his Spring 2010 collection? Garments were baggy and seemingly craft-like, looking as if they had been thrown together with a bit of glue and tape in a matter of minutes. Yes, things look girly, but they also look like a kindergarten school project. Intuitive theme, but this work just doesn’t translate on the runway.

Tomorrow, Let The 2010 Games Begin!

Edited by

Tomorrow, Let The 2010 Games Begin! Oh, why, hello there Fashion Week! So nice of you to creep your way through the summer and bite me in the ass! Yes friends, it all begins tomorrow. If you’ve got yourself some show invites, let me be the first Fashion Week rookie to tell you that you’re in for the most fantastic ride of your life. Lots of waiting. Lots of standing. Hundreds of people who look 10x more fabulous than you. Self proclaimed “models” who try and bride their way inside the tents. You’re going to be exhausted and most likely annoyed, but as soon as the lights cut, music blares and the first household name beanpole hits the catwalk, you’re going to be mesmerized.

But just because you’ve got an intricate outfit to pick out and some super high heels to walk in doesn’t mean you’re the only stressed out Madonna in Bryant Park. No way, these folks have got you beat. Enjoy a little pre-show drama!:

Thanks Fashionologie! For the complete list of designers showing at Spring 2010 Fashion Week, Check out Mercedes-Benz here!

TWITS: Hutson Opting Out of Fashion Week

Last Fall, Swaim and Christina Hutson said a sad goodbye to Obedient Sons & Daughters and retested the fashion waters with new label Hutson. According to Meenal Mistry’s Twitter, Hutson, despite their projections to show at Fall 2009′s Fashion Week, will not be showing during the infamous week. Instead, a “small series” of Spring 2010 pieces will be available at the end of September. Devastation.

TRENDSPARK: Ugly Male Models

Edited by

**WARNING** If you have an intolerance for shallow observations or you recently modeled in Men’s Spring 2010 Fashion Week, don’t read this.

The end of June and beginning of July are of importance to me for one reason: men’s fashion week. Yeah, the tailored suits and spring apparel are nice, but what  I really look forward to is the hours I spend cooing over drop dead gorgeous models. The chiseled jaw. The supple lips. The piercing eyes. I’m like a kid in a candy-store!

But these past two weeks have been less than enjoyable for my model addiction. Is it just me, or are designers and bookers seriously skimping on the man candy this season? What once was a Cole, Ash, Luke and Taylor dominated field is now pillaged with some of world’s less fortunate looking creatures. Is there some sort of repulsive man trend I’m missing the boat on here?
