Rock’s baddest bitch has to be VV A.K.A. Baby Ruthless A.K.A. Alison Mosshart. The first byname came by way of her mainstay indie blues band The Kills. She and bandmate Hotel A.K.A. Mr. Kate Moss A.K.A. Jamie Hince met aurally through a hotel wall kind of like in this Standard Hotel film. Her second sobriquet came with her lead singing/electric guitar wailing role in Jack White‘s supergroup Dead Weather. Her look has natural swagger – she’s a boho glam bombshell that can somehow camouflage as one of the guys. Give her a leather, a fur, a fringe, a native print, a plaid, a ripped tee, she knows what to do with it. Her jaw can cut more hits than her two bands combined. And of course a drunken-bitch-beatdown wouldn’t be complete without Lindsay Lohan. But the Troubled Starlet was only there to help, removing shards of champagne glass from the reality star’s leg like a regular old Lilo Nightengale. [Daily News]

Next suggestion, “Taschen art books are always great.” A true favorite amongst the fashion set (we’ve got a couple in our library).

Lorenzo’s a major fan of the latest Helmut Newton one, which comes with a table and has a retail price of $15,000.

A set of Momoko Dolls would be graciously accepted at La Casa Martone. The high-end Barbies are a Japanese import with a just attention to detail and hyper cool outfits and accessories. If you’re looking to impress the modern artist in your life, look no further than a Jeff Koons Limited Edition Dogs. “The Balloons Sculptures – Who doesn’t love them?” states Lorenzo.

While the limited edition replicas of the famous pooches fetch $10,000, you can find a set of printed ornaments for $19,99 on ebay. “Hermes also makes simple yet chic little “vide poches” those leather squares that you leave by your entry door or by your bed and you literally “empty your pockets” in it….. very beautifully done.” These might be a Parisian exclusive, so for those shopping in the US, check out these Hermes cigarette trays.

At $620 they are definitely not a steal, but when something looks this good, it’s worth a little extra cash. For those looking to give a little more Lorenzo suggests “a night at the Standard Hotel in NY – for the night you move in but don’t want to sleep around all your boxes!” And of course no list these days would be complete without a few recession proof gifts. Mr. Martone suggests candles.

Jared Leto and pals Terry Richardson and Olivier Zahm were caught hanging out at the Standard Hotel in NYC, and I can’t help but notice the amazing pieces the Requiem For A Dream actor has on. I am in love with his General Idea jacket (obviously because they were my favorite show this Fashion Week), and the combination of the all black look with the gold on his Creative Recreation sneakers is really the icing on the cake! Jared Leto is coming back strong, and at least this time he’s doing it in style.

RANDOM COOL: Vending Machines Stock Bathing Suits at the Standard Hotel

Quicksilver is making good on the dictionary definition of their name and making bathing suits quickly available to visitors of the Standard Hotel though vending machines. This means one less reason to skip the pool, go skinny dipping and one more reason to spend your money. Selling for $75 these shorts will cost you a bit more then a Diet Coke, but you have to admit it’s a good idea and will surely show up in other hotels. For now its available at four Standard Hotel locations, but no word on bikinis being sold so ladies, you might be skinny dipping after all.

The newly-opened Standard Hotel in New York gives you a glimpse of heaven when you take the elevator up to their rooms and a glimpse of hell on the way back down to the lobby. Created by artist Marco Brambilla, “Civilization” is a video mural based on Dante’s Divine Comedy, that scrolls in synch with the movement of the 18-storey hotel’s elevators.
