id="more-210275">

The exhibit was curated by LOVE magazine editrix/Marc’s stylist for both his eponymous line and Vuitton since 2003, Katie Grand, who insists that it is not a retrospective; rather, she “put clothes together as I would for a shoot.” Hence a mixing and matching of looks from different collections helmed by Jacobs since 1998.

These 30 looks are modeled on mannequins, some bearing the iconic Vuitton Speedy bag as heads, while others — painted orange and pink and covered in Louis Vuitton graffiti designed by frequent Jacobs collaborator Stephen Sprouse — are frozen in editorial-ready poses.

The Art of Fashion coincides with the opening of Milan Fashion Week and the brand’s new store in Via Montenapoleone 2. It does not, however, have anything to do with those pesky rumors that Marc is moving to Dior, since, according to Grand, they started working on The Art of Fashion in January.

It’s nice to know Grand and Jacobs took some time out from plotting the downfall of London Fashion Week to put together this lovely exhibit. If you’re in Milan, you can catch Louis Vuitton: The Art of Fashion‘s very limited engagement through October 9th. [David LaChapelle are just a handful of people the fashion house collaborated with.

This time, Louis Vuitton teamed up with illustrator David Huges to create these beautiful mannequins. It’s specially made for the new Louis Vuitton store in London.

The styling is done by Katie Brand. She selected some of louis Vuitton’s most famous and iconic outfits from the archive.

The London store

The 15,000 sq ft store is designed to reflect the 21st century mood of London and bring together innovation, heritage and fashion – “all values that are important to Louis Vuitton,” M. Carcelle said.

<img

In the streets, in schools, at work etc. Practically every single person has a LV bag. Or at least, more then average. Even normal, non rich, school girls have a LV bag. Now don’t get me wrong, every person deserves to get what he or she wishes. But what’s the point of being different and feeling special when every single person, rich or poor has the same bag as you..?

Another thing why I dislike LV, is that it’s getting popular with the hoochie momma’s. It’s really making the brand look cheap…ridiculously cheap.

What do you think? Do you have any dislikes towards LV or any other fashion house? Share your opinion! =)

I would love to hear your opinion<br

Created by Andrea Perini and Naveed Hussain, Vagabond NYC is geared towards the fashion consumer in search of vintage styling and the couture ghost of fashion’s past. Shoppers can directly purchase complete outfits, as seen in the digital editorials, or browse through an array of vintage (or vintage lookalike) collectables. From vintage Givenchy and Helmut Lang to old school Stephen Sprouse and Thierry Mugler, Vagabond NYC really has everything an indebted label lover could ask for. And the editorial styling? To die for.

Check out Vagabond NYC Mr. Marc Jacobs and his partner in crime Lorenzo Martone arrived in style to the Cinema Society screening of Defiance last night. Both were sporting heavy fur and scruffy facial hair, but I think in a somewhat shocking twist (seeing as though Marc is a world renowned designer) Lorenzo looks a bit better than Marc! I don’t think that Lorenzo necessarily nailed his look, I think there are just a few misques on Mr. Jacobs part that resulted in the crown going to his significant other.

1.) Plain black tee: Not hating on the tee choice, just need something to spice up the black.

2.) Shorter skirt: A bit more color from those LV Sprouse leggings would have been nice.

3.) Switch jackets: I think Lorenzo’s jacket would have looked better on you Mr. Marc.

WeLoveSprouse.com site has hit the innerwebs. On it you can check out images of the new collection, interviews with Marc Jacobs, Jeffrey Deitch, and R&M Padiha of Mao PR, and graffiti their wall for your own little bit of Sprouse.

What I care most about though is the video of Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2001 fashion show featuring Sprouse’s original collection with the mega brand and watching video of Marc Jacobs in a plaid kilt. Long live the man dress.

HE WAS LUXURY – Stephen Sprouse pioneered the 80s “uptown sophisticate meets downtown punk” look. His signature collection was designed using pricey, custom-dyed fabrics in Day-Glo bright colors and graffiti that Sprouse personally added to his garments.

HE FAILED, OCCASIONALLY - His over the top collections were sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel. Unfortunately, he couldn’t convince enough upper east siders to drop down the capital for his goodies and he declared bankruptcy in 1985. In 1988, he lost funding and almost completely shut down when his backer decided to cut ties with the designer. Patricia Fields was at his big closeout sale. She grabbed dozens of pieces and sold them at her Bowery store to all the hungry kiddies.

HE WAS A WARHOLIAC – Andy Warhol, a friend of Sprouse, was buried in one of the designers suits. Sprouse transformed Andy’s “Factory” into his own little showroom. Sprouse was one of the first designer to incorporate Andy Warhol into his work, using his famous Camouflage print in his 1987-1988 collections.

HE CHANGED SOHO – In 1987, Sprouse found some financial banking and was the first designer to opened up a full-scale emporium in Soho. His move completely changed the shopping scene in the area. Debbie Harry performed for a crowd of hundreds of Stephen’s closest friends at the opening.

HE LOVED HARING - Sprouse collaborated with Keith Haring to create several abstract prints of Jesus with graffiti. The prints became textiles for his Fall 1988 collection.

HE MADE VELCRO COUTURE – In 1992, he produced an exclusive, 32 piece line for Bergdorf’s called “CyberPunk” which used velcro instead of buttons. The cheapest item was a pair of mens underwear which retailed for $500 bucks.

HE TOOK ON ROCK AND ROLL – In 1995 Sprouse served as costume curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. He designed the staff’s uniforms.

HE WAS ALWAYS ON TARGET - In 2002, Sprouse created an exclusive line for Target, ushering in the Go International collection and changing the way fashion types looked at big box retailers forever.

HE’S LOVED BY MARC - Marc Jacobs collaborated with Sprouse in 2001 for a collection of graffiti logo bags for Louis Vuitton. The pieces sold-out instantly. In 2006, Marc incorporated Sprouse’s 1887 graffiti leopard images into his handbags, shoes, and scares, which once again sold-out instantly. In 2009, a new line of Sprouse inspired pieces will hit the sheles of Louis Vuitton, expect them to once again, sell-out instantly…

<p
