IT BRIT: Daisy Lowe + British Vogue

In a sea of “It Girls,” Daisy Lowe sticks out to me like a canary in a coalmine. She can grace the pages of European high-fashion mags and Doc Martins and Mango ad campaigns alike, and imbues both with her aloof-rocker good looks. (Gavin Rossdale is her father, after all). She’s been a model for Terry Richardson and Steven Klein, and dated Mark Ronson.

If that’s not enough to keep one intrigued, Lowe was shot by photographer Alasdair McLellan for British Vogue this December, and lends her offbeat charm to the editorial spread. It’s unconventional and romantic.

Carine Roitfeld’s love for Lara Stone can no longer be attributed to her wispy blonde hair and ample breasts. Taking things a step further from the September cover of Vogue Paris where Roitfeld styled her with brown hair and (gasp) visible eyebrows, she is now transformed into a wide variety of stereotypes. Rave attendee, china doll, and fierce tribal leader are all present in this diverse editorial where Lara Stone becomes almost unrecognizable.

There’s nothing like having high quality prints of Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Steven Klein, Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel and several other established photographer’s work in the confines of your own home. I had the opportunity to snag a copy of Dolce & Gabbana’s collaborated photo compilation, Extreme Beauty In Vogue, before it hit’s shelves in October, and I must admit, I feel like a child staring at a picture book, completely mesmerized by every photo. Edited by Phyllis Posnick with an essay by Eva Respini, Extreme Beauty In Vogue exposes photographic, stylistic and journalistic perceptions of female beauty and opinions on allure. Featuring two centuries of work, the evolution of cultural attitudes on women is exposed in this coffee-table must have. And for those of you hung up on Vogue’s typical conservatism, there’s enough nipples, asses, bestiality and blood to suit your fancy. Shove your Beatles anthology to the side folks, because this $55 investment is what your dinner guests should be snooping through!

Gareth Pugh To Show Video at Milk’s Fashion Week

Many designers have already signed up to show at Milk Studio’s this year, this includes Gareth Pugh (he usually shows in Paris). He will show a video installation by Steven Klein at the space, which is def not as exciting as a runway, but at least he will be there in person (as rumor has it).

I’m only interested in Eva Mendes when she’s not attempting to act. Seriously, Eva, just focus on doing whatever it is your doing in these ads and leave the acting to the Jolie’s and Hathaway’s of the world, your attempt at being whatever it is your trying to be (my guess is a respected actor, but someone who makes bank at the cinema is another noble cause) isn’t happening, cause you can’t act chica, you really, really, really, really, really suck huevos at it.
