When the first images from this Jennifer Connelly campaign surfaced i was not a fan of the intentionally awkward posing, it seemed like the photo editors had it out for her. Now, when I see the series together, my feelings have changed. The slightly robotic posing gives Jennifer the look of a fierce creature and draws extra attention to the amazing footwear. Featuring two centuries of work, the evolution of cultural attitudes on women is exposed in this coffee-table must have. And for those of you hung up on Vogue’s typical conservatism, there’s enough nipples, asses, bestiality and blood to suit your fancy. Shove your Beatles anthology to the side folks, because this $55 investment is what your dinner guests should be snooping through!

Ever since I saw “So Young, So Cool,” Steven Meisel’s February 2009 spread for Vogue Italia, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the  unisex body-jewelry of Bliss Lau, featured in the editorial. Possibly a bit simpler than previous collections, Lau’s jewelry line consists of antiqued chains, hooks, gromets and minimal pieces of leather. What I really love about her recent pieces is that they can be worn year-round (despite the fact that they are from the fall 2008 collection) and are designed to fall where skin is typically bare during the warmer months. Even a simple tank-top or body-con dress can be livened up with Lau’s jewelry. Hoping for some new designs in the near future!

A de-eyebrowed Sasha Pivovarova posed for Steven Meisel for the May 2009 issue of Vogue Italia.

It’s a good cover just on fashion principle alone. Unlike virtually every spring issue cover, the colors are neutral and based in earth tones, and the model is all bundled up. It stands out for not standing out.  The accompanying spread, “Moroccan Holiday,” is similarly styled with unusual color palettes and muted luxury.

Madonna will once again be the face of the upcoming Louis Vuitton campaign for the Fall/Winter 2009 collection. Following the Spring/Summer 2009 ad campaign, Louis Vuitton, its creative director Marc Jacobs, and Madonna, will be collaborating for a second consecutive season, again photographed by Steven Meisel in New York City, under the art direction of Marc Jacobs. The first images of the campaign should appear in August issues of fashion magazines, and blogs as soon as we can get out hands on them.
