STREETHERO: Susie Bubble Tones Down, Gets Classy com

While Susie Bubble was always struck me as a brave dresser, she never really stuck out as a good one. I officially take that back.

Her look always fit the London fashion scene, where over the top was a way of life, but throw her in New York or Any Mall, Middle America and her look quickly became costume.

Now it seems as if with more power, she’s taking more responsibility for her style, leaving the world of fashion for fashions sake and embracing a style that’s refreshingly unique and very mature.

While she still does manage to wear things that make more sense in theory than in practice, I feel that more and more, as I travel through the backlogs of her blog, I’m witnessing the musings of a Style Icon rather than a girl with a love for mismatched pattering, which for this blogger, who’d rather be in all black and denim is a welcoming discovery.

Welcome Our New Contributors Lucas And Jessica!

You may have noticed some new faces on Fashion Indie today, and I just wanted to take a second to introduce all of the Indies to our newest contributors, Lucas Logan and Jessica Li.

Lucas is a blogger and model from Los Angeles that you may recognize from our ‘25 under 25 stylish people to know‘ and a few other ‘Street Heroes’ posts around Fashion Indie. Lucas has his own blog where he chronicles his nightlife in LA, and now you can find more from him right here!

Jessica is another ‘Street Hero’ previously featured on Fashion Indie with her own style blog. She’s one of the few fashion-conscious people I know in Michigan, so expect to see great Lookbook-esque street style photos, and you may catch her and I out and about around Michigan if you’re lucky. Plus, she’s going to be studying abroad in Paris very soon, so we can only imagine the great things she’ll be filling us in on from Europe.

With the exception of this insanely mild NYC week, the weather is starting to deteriorate to gross cold and cloudy days. It’s this weather that makes me love this look so much. The trench is a timeless piece, and when it’s topped with a rain hat it looks even better. Simple yet very good looking.

Stop. Hammer time. I love those sequined drop-crotch pants. These guys both looked super fablous, and were perfectly outfitted together. So many fashion people at the Rad Hourani event, but unfortunately the Fashion Indie cam died early into the night, but we were thrilled to at least be able to catch these dudes.

I was searchign through my usual style blogs this morning, when I came across this photo on LookBook and fell in love. Coming from a guy you may find it a bit suprising, but the simple slouchy jeans and tank accompanied by a set of suspenders and booties looks so hot. The look is perfect for those nights out on the town, and it could easily be pulled off by most guys too.

I like how much this couple is matching, and the girl has that shredded tights look that I love/am dying to start working. Not sure if you noticed, but she’s also wearing socks with her heels, which I think is awesome. I’m also loving the guy’s white pants, and happy that he didn’t tuck them into his boots, because that’s starting to feel a little bit overdone. These looks seem to be more traditional Spain than modern Sydney to me, but I do have to say, these people are brave. The guy looks a bit like a matador, and the girl a flamenco dancer, but both of these looks are working for them in an ‘I’m not trying too hard, but this looks is still crazy’ way.

This girl loves her girdles and corsets on the outside instead of in. I think it’s a cool way to create a nice shape, first by wearing a girdle as a belt, and then by layering a corset over a shirt. I can’t say I’m going to run out and try this, but it’s a cool idea.

The dress is extremely elaborate, but in a great way. She knows how to balance it well with the heels so that it doesn’t look overdone.

The colors makes a strong statement. It’s an undeniable confidence with a great sense of style.

The entire outfit looks well thought out and very put together. It’s simple but in a great way and accessorized to completion.

The simplistic dress is paired great with the bag and heels. The accessories really make this outfit what it is.
