I like the way thisshape frames the brow, it gives your eyes a very alert look. And the bridge coming up metal connects them in a certainly non-unibrowish look. The tortoise translucence will give your face a soft look even on the coolest days (that may or may not come, given the balmy conditions of our New Year’s Eve – knock on wood, I’d like it to stay this warm, thank you).

We first got on the site and chose between prescription glasses and sunglasses. Being a bit skeptical about ordering prescription ready glasses off a website with no consultation seemed a bit fishy…so of course we went for that option.

What is an absolute must-have for your Memorial Day getaway?

This Boutique Critique is about the amazing designer vintage store, 1 Of A Find.  Curator and self-professed shopaholic Honey Moon goes on buying trips all over the world seeking out beautiful, unique, impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Lacroix, and Lanvin to satisfy her international clientele.  She used me as a Barbie doll and transported me into worlds I only dream of.  Best part? Her prices are as unique as her collection, so we definitely recommend scooting over to her Brooklyn location asap.  Check out all our amazing finds after the jump.

This gown was to DIE for.  It caught my eye immediately as a dress made for the 1950′s movies I play out in my head. When Anna Wintour extends me a VIP invitation to the Met Gala, I will surely be sporting something like this on the red carpet.

The Mod Squad would have adopted me in a heartbeat in this Montaldo Op Art dress.  I fell in love with the digital print, it was so eye catching and well, trippy.  Bubbled sleeves and a high neck are hard to pull off without looking like Julie Andrews, but this psychedelic wonderland of a dress with slim cuts made it utterly chic.  I fell in love with the leather wedges and actually scooped them up for myself (sorry shoppers!).

I never thought I could pull off a Blair Waldorf headband until I found this gem of a velvet headband.  So sweet and a little schoolgirl, it matched perfectly with this lace dress from the 60′s. Always ahead of the curve in what’s creative, Prada has launched its latest artistic venture.  

Showcasing their new Minimal-Baroque frames in eight stunningly chic (and cunningly clever) images, the exhibition launched with a chic cocktail party at Prada’s uptown Manhattan location. We noshed on fancy finger foods while checking out the quirky specs, among other Prada goodies.

The deluxe rococo designs were created for the runways of Milan and Beijing, and have been translated into a more wearable, sleeker design for shoppers in time for summer.

And as far as the images go, they were selected together with Vogue Talents, the annual supplement of Vogue Italia.  They will be presented together in Prada stores in Milan, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Istanbul, Madrid, and New York from May 17.

1. The Tux

You tuxedo will say everything about you  this year at prom. For this reason alone it is super important that you pick the right one according to your style. If you’re the type of guy who wants to go for the traditional black suit: fine, but if you really want to make a statement then try something different. Play around without different colors such as charcoal, try a dinner jacket, or even go for a totally unexpected colored suit all together. Also in the fashion world for men tailoring is super important and that means finding a tux that actually fits. That means nothing too baggy. Leave that for your sweatpants because remember no matter what you think it is still a formal event.

2. Necessary Accessories

Along with the tux there are a few other things that are completely necessary in your prom night. They include some type of neck tie,  a cummerbund or vest, shoes, and hopefully a watch. Many times guys are guilted into wearing colors that directly match thier date. The problem with this is that what’s good for the gander is not always good for the goose. I’ve witnessed many guys wearing colors that didn’t flatter them at all but wore it for the sake of matching, This isn’t the stone age anymore and men are allowed to have a say in fashion. Instead of matching colors why not try wearing complimenting colors and if your date insists on matching for for a shade that better suits the individual.  Let your shoes and watch dictate your own personal style but make sure they fit your outfit.

3. That Extra Touch

If this will be your senior prom then it is the perfect night to let your style inhibitions go wild. It’s your last night to party with the rest of your seniors and you should make the most of your night. Make your outfit scream your name. Add splashes of color, throw on and layer accessories, wear a pair of converses; do anything that will make you feel like yourself,without getting you kicked out that is

1. Wear sunscreen to protect skin and hair. This is the most important type of sun protection you can get without staying indoors. If you are going to be poolside, at the beach or even spending a day at the park, it’s good to apply these products 30 minutes before exposure to the sun. Aveeno Positively Ageless Lotion For Face SPF 70 is great for the delicate skin on your face and Coppertone Oil Free Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen is a classic that can be used everywhere. Keep those beautiful locks free of sun damage with Ouidad Sun Shield Sun & Sport Leave-In Spray or Phyto Phytoplage L’Originale Protective Beach Spray.

2. Use an everyday moisturizer with SPF. Just because you’re not in direct sunlight all day doesn’t mean the sun’s harmful rays aren’t reaching you. Wearing a moisturizer with SPF either alone or under makeup all the time will prevent even the smallest amounts of sunlight from infiltrating your skin. 3. Leave-in conditioner will help repair hair. If you’re heading to the pool or beach, things like chlorine, salt and sun can be tough on your mane. Combing a leave-in conditioner through hair will keep damage at bay. Turn to Hamadi Organics Shea Leave In Conditioner or Skin by Monica Olsen Leave in Conditioner with Moroccan Oil, available at Duane Reade, for maximum care and protection.

4. Don’t forget about your lips! The delicate skin on your lips is in need of protection more than you know, so don’t neglect that gorgeous pucker. Wearing lip balm with SPF every day will defend lips from harmful rays and keep them moisturized. Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 and Benefit Benetint Lip Balm SPF 15 will keep your pout supple and prevent damage and dryness from the sun.

5. Don’t forget your sunglasses. Not only for the purpose of looking fabulous, a pair of good sunglasses can save both your eyes and the delicate skin around them. When out all day in the sun, make sure you have shades large enough to cover a substantial portion of your face. I’m sure you indies have your favorites, but Gucci Square-Framed Acetate Sunglasses, Victoria Beckham Round Nite Acetate Sunglasses and Yves St. Laurent Animal-Print Square-Frame Acetate Sunglasses are all great options if you’re looking to buy.

6. Don’t be afraid of hat hair. Wearing a hat on long days in the sun protects both your face and hair while adding a stylish touch to your outfit. Go for something with a wide brim that provides a good amount of coverage. I’m obsessed with the Kangol Braid Siren Hat, and this Missoni Striped Woven Sunhat is a cheery, colorful option.

Going chronologically here, when I arrived at the backstage area, the models were all in run-through mode so there was zero motion by the ready mirrors. This gave me a moment to check out the Anna Sui Beauty Bar - she was showing press like me her signature perfumes, her new shoe collaboration with Hush Puppies, and her collection of spectacles.

I told you I went a little nuts with the glasses, but they’re so fly I had to give you a little show of them.

That was fun, but seriously, back to the real models. Zuzanna Bijoch and Daphne Groeneveld give serious backstage face.

The über talented Pat McGrath was responsible for the cosmetic creation. The aesthetic is perfect natural skin with futuristic lashes and lids. She achieved this look with tons of mascara infused with beeswax for extra thickness and playing with liner above the crease of the lid. Just a very small amount of blush on the apple of the cheek keeps the face nude without looking dead. The light white shimmer on the eye is Snow Blossom by Covergirl.

The famed Garren styled the smooth mod sixties hair that carried the show. He calls the look the “Mod Bardot” with fullness at the crown and full fringe with a center part, “Kind of the way Anna [Sui] wears her hair.” To get that voluminous lift at the root, he used Furterer Volumea. Girls with shorter hair were styled in that curly Twiggy kind of way. He envisions this hairstyle on girls having fun, not taking itself too seriously. And we’ve been forewarned, Garren states more as a fact than a vague prediction, “Fringe will be for Fall.”

I serendipitously crossed paths with Anna Sui on my way to enter the front of house to watch the show (we heard the announcement, FIVE MINUTES!) and I managed to squeeze two questions in:

What are you most excited about for your show?

“I hope people like it, that’s what I’m feeling.”

From what I’ve seen backstage, I’ve noticed a mod theme. Is the whole collection going that way?

“You’ll see. There’s a transition that happens, that’s what I’m trying to express.”

The party was a complete success. The Absolut vodka was flowing, our 60 minute mixtape was playing (shameless plugs) and good times were had by all.

The night was a “I Wear My Sunglasses At Night” theme since Fashion Indie is endorsing blogger Jinna Yang to become Sunglass Hut’s Full Time Fabulous blogger. Jinna brought an array of designer sunglasses while we supplied a bunch of silly ones for people to play around with and take home.

Sunglasses brand Activist Eyewear was also there showing there incredibly chic and functional frames.

I’ve added these fierce cat-eye sunglasses to our Coveting section a while ago, citing that these are becoming the new ‘it’ sunglasses. And voilà! Scarlett Johanson, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Kelly Osbourne (one of the firsts to rock Alexander Wang+Linda Farrow cat-eye sunglasses last year), Debra Messing and Dorota ‘Doda’ Rabczewska, all looove them some Tom Ford cat-eye goodness, that is these Nikita sunglasses. Who is this Doda person you probably ask yourself, while admiring the perfect curves of these frames? One of the big trends being seen on & off the runway is cat eye sunglasses. Alexander Wang’s spring collection showed some severe winged shades, with a metallic frame. Other designers, like Sonia Rykiel and Giles Deacon, had embellished frames.
