Generra designers Swaim and Christina Hutson, who previously owned and designed for Obedient Sons and Daughters, added some vibrant color to their simple, Nordic themed Fall 2010 collection. Those daring enough to wear bright royal blue, hot pink and kelly green will adore this collection filled with basic button ups, suits, skirts, sweaters and knit caps. Ladies can expect a number of color blocked and ruffled dresses and skirts as well as a few splotchy tie-dye pieces. It’s a relatively simple collection but with colors this intense, it’s equally as daring.

Last Fall, Swaim and Christina Hutson said a sad goodbye to Obedient Sons & Daughters and retested the fashion waters with new label Hutson. According to Meenal Mistry’s Twitter, Hutson, despite their projections to show at Fall 2009′s Fashion Week, will not be showing during the infamous week. Instead, a “small series” of Spring 2010 pieces will be available at the end of September. Devastation.

Where do fashion labels go when they die?

The latest fashion roadkill, Obedient Sons and Daughters had been one of the more promising up-and-coming indie labels since their launch a couple years ago. Last year they placed as finalists in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and they had decent support from the Hollywood hipster set.

But reportedly, their main investor, Mike Dirnt (yes, the Green Day bassist), “hasn’t provided sufficient capital to support the brand’s growth.”

On the up side, the husband and wife duo behind the brand, Swaim and Christina Huston (above) are working on a new, as-yet-unnamed collection. It’s set to debut at their February 14 show.

“This is a huge risk for us, but we feel that it takes us in the right direction,” Christina said about the new project. “We are extremely passionate about what we do and truly look forward to our new focus.”
