Zappos Gets Self-Aware

I wish I knew someone with the balls or bills to try this…
Zappos.com is selling a $50,000 limited-edition “Cease and Desist” T-shirt — with your purchase Zappos will permanently disable your significant other’s (”wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, or ‘it’s complicated’”) Zappos.com account for life. And it’s available in five colors!
Other key points:
- A Zappos rep personally delivers the shirt and serves as “a shoulder to cry on for up to 1 hour for your significant other” as well as “frolic in a field of daisies with you or do anything that is mutually agreed upon to not be morally or ethically objectionable.” Additional time for consoling or celebrating is available at $3.99/minute or a barter.
- Zappos dismisses itself from liability “if your significant other creates or uses another account using a different email address.”
- A refund is available “only if you are permanently divorced or separated within 365 days.
All that, and 100% cotton.

Obama Horses Around

I bet these sell out before 2009.
DC artist Chris Bishop has rereleased his limited edition graphic tee featuring Barack Obama riding a unicorn…!
Available in men’s and women’s sizes for under $20 (including shipping).
Order one now to wear on Inauguration Day!
M.I.A? WTF? IDK! TTYL.

Warning: M.I.A’s new clothing line may cause seizures! Inspired by a Carribean albino teenager (no, I’m not kidding) named Okley Leslie, M.I.A’s line, Okley Run, is anything but unexpected. Basically, her overpriced and over-designed tees, hoodies, leggings and tanks look exactly like her album art. We’ve got a little bit of Mexican, African and Islamic art going on. Who knows, wear any of these items with M.I.A’s signature gold metallic leggings and you might be mistaken for the rapper herself! Come on M.I.A, shouldn’t you spend a little less time on your awful clothing line and a little more time on deciding what to name your baby? Corey and I discussed this…we think S.O.S or A.W.O.L would be excellent choices. Better yet, put your spare time into recording a new album…I’m dying for some more pop/rap/afro-beat tunes!
Anyways, Okley Run is available online at Karma Loop and at Opening Ceremony.
Thanks Nylon!

Yay, economy conscience fashions!!! Pick it up here.

7. Paul & Joe Bianco Black Melange Trousers

What do you want? I’m a sucker for Karl. It’s $250 plus 30% off at the SSENSE.com Black Friday sale.
Cheap Shit: I Heart LA Tee, $25

I’m really big on cheap shit and for being “ironic” on the streets of NYC, which is why I’m all for this Archrival ”I Bleeding Heart LA” tee shirt. Get it, it’s ironic cause your a New Yorker with an I <3 LA t-shirt and it’s ironic cause no one fucking <3’s LA!!! Yeah, it seriously sucks there.
Grab the tee for $25 bucks at 80spurple.
Play the Tourist

I’ve always looked at tourist in NY with a bit of envy. After a few years in this city (actually my whole life) the factors that make it so amazing to some seem to just fade into the background. Times Square starts looking like a big advertisement, the Empire State Building like another skyscraper, and Lady Liberty looks as appealing as the one night stand you can’t seem to stop bumping into at your favorite bar. Fortunately, for those truly jaded by NYC’s magic, there’s this Tourist ready tee from Modern Amusement ($25). It’s perfect for feeling like a newbie while still being a Big Apple regular.
Collab-Ho: Alex + Chloe with Kenzo Minami

Above T-shirt designed by artist Kenzo Minami for Alex + Chloe. Enzyme washed for a great vintage affect and feel. Available for $154 on their site.
Thanks Highsnobette for pointing this out.
Karl Lagerfeld at Urban Outfitter Prices

The cheapest way possible for you to look like a Chanel groupie. Only $19.99, can’t beat that. Buy it here.
Thanks Nylon for pointing it out.
New Elizabeth and James Collection!

New to Shopbop, is the Olsen Twins’ (I mean Mary Kate and Ashley, don’t want them to sue me!) clothing line Elizabeth and James. Unlike the Row, E and J is more bohemian with a modern edge. Each piece is named after the musician or movie star that inspired it. Like the Joni tunic for Joni Mitchell or the Garbo jacket for actress Greta Garbo. Here are Fashion Indie’s Top 10 fav’s from their collection:
Will Chicks on Speed Be the New Alt-Fashion It Designers?

The Chicks.
In the world of alt-designers there are the Henry Hollands and the Jeremy Scotts and the Gareth Pughs, all who embody a sense of childlike appeal for today’s youthful fashionista. Well a new batch of designers are hitting the scene, creating performance ready looks to accompany their crazy stage shows. Chicks on Speed, an over the top trio of girls from Berlin have expanded on their “fake” band image (think Flight of the Concords in German) to create a line of quickly selling tees for Yoox.com. As an added benefit, purchase their tee shirts and you’ll get a free copy of their new single, “Vibrator”. Hmm, free vibrator with purchase? I guess Yoox is taking a page from the American Apparel playbook.
You can find the limited edition tees (pictured below) for $150 at Yoox.com.
Flower Power “Vintage” Top

If you want that vintage look without the fuss, this shirt by 291 is for you. This ‘Flower-Child’ shirt is better than the tees you would find at Urban Outfitters! The shirt is already soft, to give you that worn-in feel. And with that cool graphic, who can resist?
TrendSpark: Cartoon T-Shirts

Great article today in TimesOnline regarding cartoon t-shirts that have been unfortunately spotted around town lately.
“a trend for people who are not six years old to wear cartoon T-shirts. I imagine the intended effect is, “Look – I’m still cute and ditzy!” – but to me it’s faintly perverted that anyone over 25 would wear a picture of anything that might appear on a toddler’s lunch box.
Yet they are everywhere – people with spider veins wearing T-shirts featuring, say, Daisy Duck (Topshop), Minnie Mouse, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm (Asda), My Little Pony (Choice). What are they thinking? No one, apart from maybe the steamed-up-glasses brigade, wants to see a middle-aged woman’s breasts with the words “Little Miss Giggles” stretched across them. It’s Lolita in reverse. It’s freaky. Make it go away.”
Gotta say, we here at FI totally agree. One of our bff’s bff was caught wearing a ‘Cheerios’ tee the other day and we cringed. Don’t people know how to grow up? T-shirts are great, but they don’t need to have Sponge BoB on them for you to appreciate the wearability.
Weight in indies, cartoon tees in or out?
Luella Bartley Collaborates With TONIC

This spring, TONIC launched a new series of four limited edition t-shirts conceptualized by Luella Bartley. Each design in Bartley’s collection, created exclusively for TONIC’s ‘Every T Counts’ initiative, will help raise funds for the cause by which it was inspired. “I am so pleased to be part of this collaboration with TONIC,” said Bartley. “I love how the proceeds from the t-shirts go to all sorts of different causes from helping kids in Columbia with dental care to protecting coral reef in the Pacific. It’s a cool and original way to give back and I think the design reflects that.”
The collection of bamboo and cotton blend t-shirts, which retail for $45 each, will be sold exclusively on TONIC’s website (www.tonicgen.com); 30% of every sale will be donated to the t-shirt’s designated program. All four Luella Bartley designs will be available on white v-neck t-shirts for women and black crewneck t-shirts for men.
Hefner Approved T-Shirts. $39

Playboy has just released this limited edition collection of tees designed by indie favorites like Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Hot Chip, and New Young Pony Club.
The shirts are worth their weight in cred points and are definitely worth checking out cause proceeds from the shirts benefit Rock the Vote.
You can shop the tees, which retail for $39 bucks at Collette and at Shopthebunny.com.
Banana Skirt + Jazz = Style Icon

Josephine Baker is one of my favorite feminine heroes.
Yes, she was a French exotic dancer, but few people in the world can make a banana skirt work on so many levels. We found this t-shirt at 80’s Purple featuring the style icon.
You can go bananas over it for $34 bucks.
