Kirby and Cole Together At Last

Edited by

Kirby and Cole Together At Last As many of you know, I have a thing for the tall, lanky and pretty male models. But in my books, Cole Mohr is at the very top of my lust list. Lucky for me, Cole opened Odyn Vovk’s Fall 2010 show on Crosby Street in Soho last night. Seeing that this is the first time I saw Cole in the flesh, I left a puddle. Giddy as a school girl. Kid in a candy store. After the show, my friends from Metal Magazine and I loitered a bit. What an excellent idea that was. Met Cole. He bummed a smoke from my friend Omi. Snagged a photo together. He touched my shoulder and told me I had a “sick” name. We’re getting married. K. Bye.

NOTE: I am not one to get star-struck easily. Last night was a major exception.

The Forbes’ Ten Most Successful Male Models

Edited by

I haven’t been home in Buffalo but two days and I’m already suffering from A.M.W (what physicians like to call ‘attractive male withdrawal). It is needless to say that stumbling upon Forbes’ 2009 list of the most successful male models was not only a sight for sore eyes but rather informative about the business of the modeling industry.

While the industry is dominated by doll-faced, lanky females, male models with more classic looks tend to be the most successful. In the midst of a recession, agencies have had to renew older contracts to save money, thusly narrowing the types of men represented. The Cole Mohrs and Ash Stymests, although trendy “image guys,” tend to fall once they’ve been used and seen enough. In addition, those who have been branded to a fragrance campaign tend to endure a low profile in the industry since such campaigns are so publicly widespread.

I’ll admit, it is a bit disheartening to see some of my favorites so low, or even nonexistent, on the list, but based on magazine covers and spreads, advertising campaigns, contracts and runway shows over the past two years, here is Forbes’ most successful male models:

1. SEAN O’PRY

TRENDSPARK: Ugly Male Models

Edited by

**WARNING** If you have an intolerance for shallow observations or you recently modeled in Men’s Spring 2010 Fashion Week, don’t read this.

The end of June and beginning of July are of importance to me for one reason: men’s fashion week. Yeah, the tailored suits and spring apparel are nice, but what  I really look forward to is the hours I spend cooing over drop dead gorgeous models. The chiseled jaw. The supple lips. The piercing eyes. I’m like a kid in a candy-store!

But these past two weeks have been less than enjoyable for my model addiction. Is it just me, or are designers and bookers seriously skimping on the man candy this season? What once was a Cole, Ash, Luke and Taylor dominated field is now pillaged with some of world’s less fortunate looking creatures. Is there some sort of repulsive man trend I’m missing the boat on here?

FIRST LOOK: Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 Collection

FIRST LOOK: Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 CollectionFIRST LOOK: Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 CollectionFIRST LOOK: Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 Collection

If I catch any of you boys wearing the Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 collection, prepare for me to tackle you and smother you with kisses. It’s such a shame that Mr. Hamilton is packing his bags and relocating his runway shows to Paris, because this designer really knows how to dress New York men. His Fall 2009 collection is widespread, encompassing pieces for virtually any guy. Whether he is bold enough to rock the red, double breasted suit, trendy enough to sport the drop-crotch pants (Taylor Fuchs…yum) or masculine enough to wear the flower tapestry trench-coat, Tim Hamilton really caters to a variety of men. The best part about Hamilton’s designs is that they are trendy, yet timeless, keeping on top of the fashion game longer than usual, saving our boys money and thusly allowing them to look good and spend a few extra bucks on us ladies!

Alright Santa, forget all of the petty fashion accessories and gadgets I asked for this Christmas, all I want is one of these pretty-eyed, skinny, yet muscular, studs to sweep me off of my feet! No wrapping or bows necessary…actually no clothes necessary either! Oh, and I would appreciate it if they were sensitive and cultured!

Indies to Watch: Taylor Fuchs

What is not to love about the 21-year-old model on the rise? Taylor Fuchs is a volleyball playing, Saskatchewan native who was plucked off of the college court and signed by Public Image Worldwide in 2007. His chiseled jaw line, dreamy blue eyes, mysterious arched eyebrows and delicate pouty lips landed him a Steven Meisel ad for Pringle of Scotland and even coveted spots in Marc by Marc Jacobs and DKNY in 2007 New York Fashion Week. Recently, Fuchs made an editorial debut in Detail, photographed by Thomas Schenk, and made a leap from Public Image Worldwide to Wilhelmina Models. Fuchs will most likely walk several big name shows during this New York Fashion Week. So what if he looks like Peter Pan? Go ahead Mr. Fuchs, take me to Neverland.
