The Beatles

FIRST LOOK: Comme des Garçons X Beatles Collection

Picture 1Picture 2Picture 3It’s nothing terribly special, but here are the t-shirts, bags and shirts from the new Comme des Garçons X Beatles Collection. The line will launch at London’s Dover Street Market on November 27th and will range from $155 for t-shirts to $860 for the largest bags.

THE TEN: Most Trendsetting Male Musicians

We’ve concocted a list of male musicians that have their own band of fashion followers. (In no particular order, it’s too hard to decide that stuff)

Picture 71. Michael Jackson: Even more so now, MJ was always known for his crazy fashion sense, and sparked trends all around the world, from military blazers to one glove.

Picture 82. Buddy Holly: Huge among the hip crowd right now, 50s and ‘nerdy’ styles are back, or never really left. Ray Bans and skinny ties, win.

Picture 113. David Bowie: Glam rockers unite for the man in the makeup.

Picture 124. Justin Timberlake: After he trimmed his curls, JT is almost always spotted in a dress vest and tie, keeping it casual with jeans but still looking undoubtably cool.

Picture 145. The Beatles: They not only influenced millions with their music, but also with their collared shirts and circle-shaped glasses.

Picture 156. Kriss Kross: I have no idea which marketing exec. told these kids to put their clothes on backwards (although I’m sure they probably came up with the idea themselves), but this was HUGE (just as huge as their clothes were on them…)

Picture 197. Sid Vicious: Ah Sid and Nancy, every punk’s idol. (minus swastika shirts)

Picture 208. Andre 3000: My favorite style ever, Andre 3000 is always dressed to kill.

Picture 219. Run DMC: You can still find those chains in St. Marks. Adidas classics? Nice.

Picture 1010. Pete Doherty: Aside from the drugs, it’s now cool to look like a homeless drug addict, apparently.

Who are your favorites?

Stlye Icons: The New School Rock Icons

The New School: Omar Rodríguez-López of The Mars Volta can be caught on stage playing mind numbing guitar solos in a skin tight three piece suit and bell bottoms.

Rock and Roll is something that is never going to just go away or disappear. Though along the way things evolve and change, there are always glimpses back into the past that can be seen through it’s predecessors. However one aspect of the genre that stays fairly consistent is the style. Rock and Roll style is a look that I personally love because it seems so effortless yet cool (and I am a Rock and Roll addict). The styles of rock legends like The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix are visible today in the styles of the new school rock style icons.

***Please note this post is about the style and in no way compares their musical talents.

The (Sort Of) New School: Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction is constantly rocking out in flamboyant, shiny outfits that balance on the edge of tranny mess.

The Old School: The Ramones

The New School: The Horrors. Trade in those blazers for leather and you have the same tight pants grungy dudes above.

The New School: Justice. This Euro Duo are my favorite DJ's around and don't really fall so much in the rocker category, but their love for leather, tight jeans and lack of hair washing makes me think of The Ramones rather that piece of crap Moby.

The Old School: The Rolling Stones

The New School: The Jonas Brother. Despite being pop crap, The Jonas Brothers have a style that reminds a lot of those Brits The Rolling Stones. The brothers are always in jackets and scarves with eccentric patterns and colors.

The Old School: The Beatles

The New School: Panic At The Disco. Looking the same but different is the key here. In The Beatles early days they were all about the suits and looking prim and proper. Well suits, ties, and boots are all in the wardrobe of these Vegas boys.

Got any other favorite rocker looks? Now that you can post images in the comments section, I want to see what yours are.
