RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Alexander Wang Spring 2010

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Alexander Wang Spring 2010 emerging fashionRUNWAY RUNDOWN: Alexander Wang Spring 2010 emerging fashionA fellow blogger recently asked me who my favorite designer is, and having never given a straight laced answer to that question before, I spit out the words “Alexander Wang” like my mouth was on fire. The question “why?” followed, but need I explain myself? Wang knows his niche in the fashion world and keeping his downtown socialite consumer thrilled was his brilliant Spring 2010 collection. Wang seemingly branched off his recent collaboration with The Gap and added his own element of Americana to the aesthetic- football anyone? Letterman jackets, khaki dresses, grey sweatshirts, leather shorts- 1930s high-school football season is back and Wang certainly worked it. As per usual, the shoes were a sight for sore eyes and will assuredly land among the “it” shoes of next season. Maybe a bit more casual for our designing genius but oh, so fabulous!

It’s no secret that out bodies are all in different shapes and sizes. What may look good on your best friend doesn’t always flatter you. There are, though, exceptions to every rule—fashion included. Unfortunately, there isn’t a magical Sisterhood-of-the-Traveling-Pants pair of that is one-size-fits-all, but there is a style out there that makes everyone look good.

The simple boot-cut denim jean is the pair that anyone can feel good about buying. It’s silhouette compliments the tall, short, curvy, and thin– and it’s always in style.

Here are three selections that you can find for a good price if spending big money on a pair of jeans isn’t your style:

-6

American Eagle- www.ae.com – $34.95

-4

The Gap- www.gap.com – $69.50

-5

Charlotte Russe- www.charlotterusse.com -$32.99

Kanye West Rumored To Design For The Gap

Kanye West Rumored To Design For The Gap menswear designersIf you thought the prospects of Kanye West interning at The Gap were somewhat off-kilter for the Louis Vuitton Don, him designing for The Gap doesn’t sound terribly kosher either. The Chicago Tribune recently reported that “It has been speculated West is looking to launch a line of clothing for the Gap, but so far, those reports have not been confirmed.”

Until there is a definite confirmation, I suggest we let this one slide as a rumor because, heck, I can’t picture Mr. West agreeing to design average clothes for average folk.

Last week we revealed that Alexander Wang is designing a khaki biker jacket for the Gap, this week we get a first look at the Vena Cava for Gap collaboration, which also includes khaki in the form of a dress with exposed zipper detail (above), as well as some pleated shorts.

Teen Vogue just interviewed Patrick Robinson (Gap VP), and it slipped out that Alexander Wang will be doing a garment for the retailer.  ‘He did this incredible motorcycle jacket in khaki that’s going to be under $100. It’s coming out on June 16th, so get ready!’

Vote For…Gap To Die

Gap is currently running their new Vote for _. campaign, which consists of celebrities saying what they are voting for. Despite the fact that Perez Hilton is in this and is reason enough for me to not buy this crap, they are also opening a pointless store on 5th ave. where people can go to get their shirts customized. I would rather scribble it in myself then have to pay even more for this stupid shirt. Say what you will about the new presidents and debates and what not, but I’m sick of it. Can’t we just be done with it already?

Thanks to Youtube for the videos

Oh no APC, wide of the mark on this one. Unfortunately for APC this line is less than impressive. If you ask me this is just a slightly glorified version of a Gap line. The ugly Ugg-like boots and the lack of patterns just don’t do it for me. What’s with the creepy model too? Hopefully APC learns from their mistakes. Sorry!

Thaks Hypebeast for the images.

Sean Avery Loves High Fashion…Then Why Is He Modeling For The Gap?

Sean Avery Loves High Fashion...Then Why Is He Modeling For The Gap? emerging fashion

The Gap recently released the new ads for the upcoming season and joining a list that already consists of Ryan McGinley, Georgina Chapman and Scott Schuman, is none other than Vogue love slave Sean Avery, the most over-glorified intern fashion has ever seen.

Apparently, the professional athlete’s salary wasn’t enough and neither was the mass amount of man dick he was offered on a daily basis in the locker rooms of the Rangers. The craving for dick was so large that it caused Avery to go out and give a few BJ’s to get into the fashion world interning for Vogue.

Why is this dude trying so hard to get onto the shit list of every industry?

Not only do all hockey fans hate him for sucking, but now everyone in the fashion world hates him. Hopefully, he gets hit so hard his brain gets jarred around in his skull a bit, and he comes to the realization that he should pull his head out of Anna Wintour’s antique cooch and stick to sports. Good luck with your fashion career now that you’ll be ramming the ass of America middle with your new team the Dallas Stars.

The Stars suck, you suck and the Buffalo Sabres are going to win the cup this year!

Thanks Brandish for this gem.
