If someone told me that BCBG designer, Max Azria, somehow survived thousands of blows to the head, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised. Anyone who decides to collaborate with Miley Cyrus is one of two things: Money hungry to the point that they will siphon celebrity status from a 16-year-old to make a Wal-Mart collaboration, slightly nicer than toilet paper -OR- mentally deranged. I’ll take the latter. 

Just in time for back-to-school, Azria’s and Cyrus’ collection will hit the Wal-Mart shelves, tantalizing tweens and causing their parents to waste more money on Cyrus paraphernalia. The majority of the collection, consisting of tops, pants, graphic tees and shoes, will sell for about $20 or less…is this really something you’d want your name tied to?

Wasn’t Cyrus’ peak last year? I feel like kids are more interested in The Jonas Brothers than that “she’s so yesterday” Hannah Montana. Maybe it’s just me, but I won’t be surprised if many pieces from this collection sat on the shelves.

I lead a pretty epic lifestyle for a first year New Yorker. Awesome hookups through Fashion Indie. Random three concert weekends. Running into celebrities on every other corner. The usual. Oh, and I forgot to mention that my roommate and I scored VIP passes to the 2008 Tree Lighting Ceremony in Rockefeller Center last night. I’ll blame it on our last minute planning and close-call arrival, but couldn’t exactly see the stage or the celebrities. We did, however, have a bird-eye view of the jumbo screen and the tree, smack dab in the middle of the promenade.

Needless to say, I had a great time. Loved Miley Cyrus; thought she rocked it our for all the kids. Hated the Jonas Brothers; sounded awful but were dressed pretty well. And then there is Beyonce; sang a nice rendition of “Ave Maria” but didn’t look so hot. No, it wasn’t her dress…it was her eyebrows! Whoever was in charge of waxing/plucking Sasha Fierce’s brows made her look surprised and lopsided! Way to go idiot…I started off in the Christmas spirit and then ended up on the naughty list by making fun of Beyonce for the remainder of the ceremony.

Looks like i’m not getting that Marc Jacobs wallet I wanted for Christmas…

With Miley Cyrus’ inevitable falling out with Disney not so far off in the future. Nickelodeon is trying to push their new stars into the spot light. Now as much as I hate giving into these new school teenie bopper kids, their impact on their demographic is ridiculous. If you think that designers and fashion people just turn a blind eye to them because of who they are and what they do you’re a fool. Victoria Justice of Nickelodeon fame Zoey 101, is bound to rank up their with Demi Lovato, The Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez as one of the popular kids stars. Although Victoria can give that Urban Outfitters catalog vibe at times, she had potential and I can definitely see her getting draped in some fine designers in the near future. So don’t be surprised when you see her looking good in some upcoming pictures, because I told you so!

Don’t ask how, but we managed to stumble across this website where this gay man is auctioning off his “gay virginity”. For the amazing price of $11,000 you can give it to this young man anyway you want it. At first I thought “Wow this is weird. How is this legal?” but as stated on the website, everything has been approved and it is completely legal. So to show how much we love our gay readers, we have decided to write about this genius idea, because no one’s first time is that great, so why not make $11,000 for it.  Oh and the man describes himself as looking like Adam Brody from The OC. So for all you homosexual men out there, stop drooling on you keyboard, click here, and start bidding! Take notes Jonas Brothers because when you snap out of your abstinence bullshit you should look into this, you could have gay guys all over the world glued (no pun intended) to their computers.

The Old School: Jimi Hendrix

The New School: Omar Rodríguez-López of The Mars Volta can be caught on stage playing mind numbing guitar solos in a skin tight three piece suit and bell bottoms.

Rock and Roll is something that is never going to just go away or disappear. Though along the way things evolve and change, there are always glimpses back into the past that can be seen through it’s predecessors. However one aspect of the genre that stays fairly consistent is the style. Rock and Roll style is a look that I personally love because it seems so effortless yet cool (and I am a Rock and Roll addict). The styles of rock legends like The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix are visible today in the styles of the new school rock style icons.

The Old School: Freddie Mercury

The (Sort Of) New School: Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction is constantly rocking out in flamboyant, shiny outfits that balance on the edge of tranny mess.

The Old School: The Ramones

The New School: The Horrors. Trade in those blazers for leather and you have the same tight pants grungy dudes above.

The New School: Justice. This Euro Duo are my favorite DJ's around and don't really fall so much in the rocker category, but their love for leather, tight jeans and lack of hair washing makes me think of The Ramones rather that piece of crap Moby.

The Old School: The Rolling Stones

The New School: The Jonas Brother. Despite being pop crap, The Jonas Brothers have a style that reminds a lot of those Brits The Rolling Stones. The brothers are always in jackets and scarves with eccentric patterns and colors.

The Old School: The Beatles

The New School: Panic At The Disco. Looking the same but different is the key here. In The Beatles early days they were all about the suits and looking prim and proper. Well suits, ties, and boots are all in the wardrobe of these Vegas boys.

Itazura is an amazing Japanese company that has caught my attention with their new Fall/Winter 08 collection. I find the looks very Jonas Brothers make a guest appearance on Gossip Girl. The looks themselves are a bit too private school boy/girl for me, but I think that the individual pieces are great. Not a huge fan of the plaid either, but the blazer with the crest, and the hand warmers are definitely something I would look into getting. The versatility of the line is amazing.
