Belts have come up and down, all around, and in some seasons have disappeared altogether. For the Fall of 2012, however, a strong regime of stylists has determined the belt will fall at the natural waist. Ho hum as this may seem, it’s good news for you as the waist is naturally the skinniest part of the body. So you get to cinch it in tight and show off that sexy hourglass figure. Unlike the drop waist that dominated runways a year ago.  

Mother-Daughter Lingerie Ads: Chic or Creepy?

The Lake & Stars lingerie designers Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman are seemingly stirring the pot with their Fall/Winter 2011 campaign. A mother and daughter duo move in close for the photos, but people are saying it’s a little too close for comfort. Zilberman chose the women for the ads, her neighbors in Brooklyn, after seeing them constantly interact with a loving and tender manner. Right wing teetotalers like Fox News of course have their panties in a bunch over the whole thing, but we don’t understand why. It took a minute to get used to, but we’re kind of actually loving it. And DUH, they are both stunning.

#CzechItOut: 12 Spring Spa Swimsuits

You might have seen my packing Czech list for this spa journey I’m on through the Czech Republic. I neglected to include that I brought just one swimsuit with me – a neon striped bottom and reversible bandeau top. Such an efficient packer, thought I. What I didn’t realize was how few massages I’d be getting, and how many bath houses I’d be swimming in. The Czech spa triangle is famous for is natural mineral water springs – for drinking and bathing – that hold cures for many illnesses and make your skin look sensational. Thus far I’ve swum in the mineral caves of the Castle Bath Spa in Karlovy Vary, the public family mineral pool at the Aquaforum in Frantiskovy Lazne (where I also got a hot stone massage from the hot son of the hot DILF spa owner – more on that later), and the royal roman bath house at the Maria Spa in Marianske Lazne (from which I’m currently writing). With that – I wish I could have brought these 12 Spring 2012 swimsuits with me. Czech It Out.

Designers Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman have ingeniously created a quirky, yet sophisticated line of intimate apparel that, if tempted enough, even the less brazen would walk that fine line of “should you be wearing that outdoors?” Named after a Victorian-era epithet for women who were ladies in the streets and hoes in the sheets, The Lake and Stars embraces both classic and contemporary trends creating pieces that are sensual, feminine, and assertive in detail. Journelle, a high-end lingerie boutique, (located on 3 East 17^th Street, between Broadway and Fifth) is hosting their second Emerging Designers Trunk Show next Thursday from 7pm to 9pm and you’re invited! This time, they invited four of our favorite young designers, Dessous, the Lake and Stars, Lola Haze, and Damaris. These four designers represent four very different styles loved by four different types of girls.

They’ll also be serving sparkling vodka cocktails and some delicious hors d’oeuvres, the perfect complement to the stunning collections.
