Hailey Clauson Cooks with Skippy for T Style Spring 2011

Edited by

Hailey Clauson is a vision of domestic bliss for the spring edition of T Style by The New York Times. Styled in some of the most cheerful looks from the spring 2011 runways by David Vandewal, Hailey puts her culinary skills to the test in Stella McCartney, Jil Sander and Carolina Herrera. Captured by photographer Walter Pfeiffer, she makes a statement in mismatched designer shoes, big jewelry and an eerie pink beehive. I’m not sure what sweet creation could come out of peanut butter, pineapples and baking soda, but she looks so good, who cares if it’s a disaster?

Mrs. O in McQueen Makes Oscar See Red

Edited by

Seems like someone’s a little tiffed they haven’t been on the Fierce Lady’s speed dial. Though Michelle Obama may have hit the sartorial bullseye at the state dinner for Chinese president Hu Jintao — donning a red silk Alexander McQueen resort 2011 off-the-shoulder gown and appeasing even the harshest of critics (i.e. Cathy Horyn and Robin Givhan of The New York Times and The Daily Beast, respectively) — Oscar de la Renta was not impressed.

I MEAN WHAT: Suzy Menkes and I Agree

I MEAN WHAT: Suzy Menkes and I Agree

Suzy Menkes rules.

Well, shut my mouth. Her royal highness Suzy Menkes…who I adore…wrote an article in The International Herald Tribune (a.k.a. The New York Times Style) about how Fashion Films Became the Hottest New Accessories. Well, girl, I said that on December 1, 2009, when I reviewed Tom Ford’s, A Single Man. I just wanted to say that as someone who admires Ms. Menkes, it warms the cockles of my heart to be on her same page. As someone that works within digital and social media paradigm, we recognize the challenge is to seize the moment and enhance all forms of advertising and communication without being too blatantly promotional. The fact remains that content is king. It always has been, but we lost our way over the past few years wth the rise of reality television and youtube, where everyone become a director.

The fashion industry can lead the charge and raise the bar on what we will be seeing and responding to because they have the access and resources to make movies pretty. Let’s just hope not only air heady, too. In the case of Lady Dior, frankly, I’d rather see Marion Cotillard recite a monologue fully clad in Christian Dior…yes, holding the new “IT” bag…rather than some cockadoodle story line (see below). When Hubert de Givenchy chose to dress Audrey Hepburn, that was the perfect blend of fashion and film. The task now is to make beautiful visuals without being too pretentious and ethereal or bla bla about it all.

TomKat: Old World Hollywood Style

Edited by

TomKat: Old World Hollywood Style This past Sunday, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hit the shelves in The New York Times Style Holiday 2008 issue. Shot by photographer Solve Sundsbo, the black and white spread looks like an old world Hollywood movie…probably one involving a sappy, infidelity filled love story. The photos are absolutely stunning…at least they will tie me over until I can see Holmes in the January Miu Miu campaign! T Style is available in stores and online now.

Thanks Fashion Copious!
