Joe Fresh and So Clean in a Dirty Mexican Bathhouse, and other Steamy Fashion Films

Earlier this week, Joe Fresh (AKA the classier Canadian H&M) opened its NYC doors on 43rd and Fifth Ave. Not only did the first 200 people in line to get in win a $100 gift card (some had camped out since 3AM), but they also witnessed the premiere of three oh-so-fresh fashion films. Joe Fresh backed and collaborated with artists Sue de Beer, Deborah Tuberville and Ellen Von Unwerth on films of NYC rockstardom, a dirty Mexican bathhouse, and a sexy Miami pool party, respectively. Sue de Beer sends Theodora Richards into the dreamlike territory of 60s and 70s rock and roll. The rockstar in her hotel room with her hot photographer man. The Keith Richards’ offspring embodies her dad’s badass spirit in this steamy role.

Deborah Tuberville revisited the bathhouse theme that made her 1975 Vogue images iconic, only this time in a dilapidated Mexican baños of San Bartolome. The dark, supernatural setting offsets Joe Fresh Spring 2012.

Ellen Von Unwerth brought the most levity to the scene with Miami Vixens. Two South Beach girls give off 60s California dreaming vibes in Joe Fresh’s brightest. Will they or won’t they steal off with the boy in the polka dot pants?

Carine Roitfeld’s Barneys Lookbook For Less

While she is no longer the editrice of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld is still turning it out, now on her own terms. In her latest project, she styled the Barneys lookbook, gathering a collection of werqing women that move her, and dressed them in that way that made French Vogue so epic. Here, we’ve taken five of our favorite looks and (though we’d love to go to Barneys for them, a. these pieces are not available online, and b. pshh we wish) found their essences for less.

Izabel Goulart, a Brazilian model whom Carine discovered at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, turns it in a Mugler top.

For a cut-out zig, zag into this ribboned and mesh-topped tunic from Topshop for $66.

For the zag on a long sleeve shirt, check out what Karl Lagerfeld did for Macy’s for $99. Pair it with Tom Ford sunglasses for a killer downtown look.

Glastonbury 2009 Fashion Review

Glastonbury is my favorite festival for trend-sparking due to the constant presence of Kate Moss (except this year…), wellies, denim cutoffs off duty models and rock stars – most of my favorite things.

Lily Allen has been loving wigs lately, and Glastonbury is a good time as any to experiment. Props to Lily for stepping up her fashion game and rocking sequins in the mud a la Kate Moss circa 2005. Note the female version of one glove Michael Jackson tribute.

Model/It Girl Daisy Lowe sporting the crop top trend (belly button covered as requested – thanks) and some strange sort of cape. Lily Donaldson looks effortlessly chic as always, wearing a perfect every day outfit, I wish my hair would look this perfect after rolling around in the Glastonbury mud.

Theodora Richards and Alexandra Richards looking like chic farm girls. That’s an impressive red lip on Theodora, and I appreciate the pop of color on her red boots. Pixie Geldof, the less annoying sister, wearing some spandex biker-esque shorts and an unnecessary hat. Hmm… maybe she is annoying.

Finally, some hipsters. Eliza Cummings wearing a surprisingly chic black dress and lace up wellies, a nice break from the standard Hunter’s. Cory Kennedy proves that she has lost whatever street urchin glam factor that she once had in stale overalls and a white t-shirt.
