Eleanor Lambert founded the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1962 and since then the organization has had some 600 members. This Friday, the Museum at FIT opens its latest exhibition, Impact: 50 Years of the CFDA, featuring 70 iconic looks that trace the development of American style over the last half century.

Fashion is a trip. But some fashion is trippier than others. It’s those distinct looks in a collection that make your eyes pop a little wider as they expand your consciousness to accept grander philosophies of the universe. This season was rife with designers experimenting with wild menswear, and we’re glad to see the rougher sex getting freaky with the Avant Garde.

I feel new talent rising. With proportions that reform the body, Munsoo Kwon‘s menswear has a sense of humor with strict attention to detail. These are basics that will change the look of an entire outfit without overpowering. He has apprenticed under Helmut Lang, Robert Geller and Thom Browne, and his philosophy aligns. Now after 5 seasons of designing for Andrew Buckler, Munsoo Kwon is stepping into the light. His Fall 2012 collection is upon us already, getting a jump on the season. See his film and lookbook here.

A new year and a new you means a new way to shop online. Up until now, your interwebbed shopping strategy has comprised a thousand tabs and entirely too many (or too few) untouched shopping carts. We caught up with charity co-chairs Rachel Roy and Thom Browne at the launch event last week about their recent travels, the thrill of the thrift, and their will to give back. Thursday, November 17, 2011 — Last night, we dolled up for the Gay Men’s Health Crisis annual Fashion Forward charity event at the Metropolitan Pavilion with hosts Tracee Ellis Ross and Brad Goreski. Guests included CFDA Fashion Fund winner Joseph Altuzarra, silver foxes Mike Ruiz and Thom Browne, models Andrej Pejic and Jenny Shimizu and blogger/gal about town Bryanboy. Then we sturtted on over to Milk Studios for their biannual group show of artists, Milk Gallery Underground, featuring work by over 70 artists from around the world including model Marcel Castenmiller. Fresh from walking the runway at Fashion Forward, superhunk Rob Evans also stopped by Milk for some art appreciation. Photos after the jump!

Miss Piggy has been hogging the fashion spotlight for quite some time, but now it’s time for all the Muppets to step out in style. Have designers like Tom Ford, Rick Owens, Versace and Michael Kors been secretly inspired by the Muppet clan? We think so, because we found a whole ton of muppet doppelgängers on the runway. They took over Good Morning America this morning, and now they’re taking over FashionIndie. What with all this media, once they’re done saving their theater, maybe they can help save Fashion Week.

This weekend, the big guns are coming out for charity, and by guns we mean designers. Everyone from Marc by Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, DVF, BCBG, Rebecca Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Tory Burch and many more are donating thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to the Housingworks Fashion For Action event this weekend. Rachel Roy and Thom Browne are hosting the event tonight which kicks off the sale. Oh yes, it’s a sale. Everything is ON SALE! It’s gonna be super ritzy, mad cheap, and all going to support the victims HIV & AIDS and the homeless.
