“Donate $300,000, and get a free t-shirt.” My goodness! How inflation has taken its toll. In my day, it was, “Raise $25, and get this free Jump Rope for Heart t-shirt, AND this water bottle, AND this notepad, AND this pencil. Yeah!!” Not anymore. UNICEF has taken the t-shirt fundraiser to a whole new level, where the price of the shirt is the exact cost of the supplies they will provide. Like a $300,000 cargo plane to transport food and aid from the main hub in Copenhagen to Nairobi. Or a shirt for $24.30 that vaccinates 81 children against the measles. There are a dozen shirts with a dozen causes for UNICEF on Threadless. Take a look.

Whatever your artistic desire, there are tons of websites hanging out in cyberspace waiting for you to come along and be creative. Here are five of our favorite sites that encourage DIY design, so you can get to work.

This is the first time Havaianas is allowing consumers to create their sandal designs and the first first foray into the accessories category for Threadless.com. The two are collaborating to launch the website’s first ever footwear challenge. Six designs will be chosen, $10,000 in awards will handed out and the sandals will be manufactured by Havaianas and sold in limited edition on www.havaianasus.com this July.
