We have entered into day 5 of Paris Fashion Week, and it’s not difficult to see why it’s the best of the four. Looking at the beauty trends during this halfway point, we’ve noticed an interesting balance of bold and minimalistic. Big, complex hairstyles took the stage just as often as the sleek and token, sending a message about the collections themselves. Were designers looking to create beauty trends alongside their lines, or did they want beauty to take a backseat and let fashion take the stage? These four hairstyles straight from the Paris runways are divided in aesthetic –  which do you prefer?

Mark Ryden‘s “The Gay ’90s: Olde Tyme Art Show” has just opened at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York City and it’s a mix of madcap escapism reminiscent of Tim Burton‘s recent tryst at the MoMA. A definite must see for those who appreciate the odder things in life, the work tackles ideals of Jesus Christ, our 14th president and chicks with really big heads. For the past year, anticipation of Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland has been growing and is leading many to be inspired by the 19th century tale. The story is a favorite of mine, so I couldn’t be more thrilled.

We’ve seen it on the runway, with designers like Versace and Christopher Kane using the whimsical world of Wonderland as their main source of inspiration. I really like Maison Martin Margiela’s take on the Tim Burton Alice we’ve seen in trailers and movie stills.

Merchandise for Alice in Wonderland has also been seen everywhere—from makeup to entire clothing lines— but I especially love the jewelry Stella McCartney designed.

Nicholas Kirkwood’s shoes here are a work of art. You can see the many influences incorporated, like the roses, checkered print, and tea set.
