Joining Hathaway and Christian Bale will be Inception star Tom Hardy who will play Bane, the drug-enhanced, muscle-bound supervillain who once broke Batman’s back…suddenly I’m feeling all hot and bothered.

Anne has some big paws to fill, particularly Michelle Pfeiffer’s spectacular portrayal in Tim Burton‘s Batman Returns. Then there’s Julie Newmar — thanks for everything! — and the legendary Earrrrrrrrtha Kitt from the television series.

She comes as a surprise for the role and though not my first choice, I think she can pull it off. Plus it will be interesting to see her in a role that’s so un-Hathaway-esque, much like 2008′s Rachel Getting Married.

Now let’s get down to the important shit — who will be designing her catsuit? Off the top of my head I’d say Givenchy, Versace and, if they go the latex route, Sears.

Mark Ryden‘s “The Gay ’90s: Olde Tyme Art Show” has just opened at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York City and it’s a mix of madcap escapism reminiscent of Tim Burton‘s recent tryst at the MoMA. A definite must see for those who appreciate the odder things in life, the work tackles ideals of Jesus Christ, our 14th president and chicks with really big heads. Check out some of our favorite pieces from this unique artist after the jump.

“The central theme of “The Gay 90s: Old Tyme Art Show” references the idealism of the 1890s while addressing the role of kitsch and nostalgia in our current culture. “In the modern era, sentimentality and beauty have been disdained in the art world. This new work explores the line between attraction and repulsion to kitsch, and between beauty and banality.”

When Colleen Atwood set out to design the costumes for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” in theaters tomorrow,  the last thing she wanted to replicate was the cliché Alice-in-a-bag costumes that arrive on the shelves of drug stores every Halloween.

For the past year, anticipation of Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland has been growing and is leading many to be inspired by the 19th century tale. The story is a favorite of mine, so I couldn’t be more thrilled.

We’ve seen it on the runway, with designers like Versace and Christopher Kane using the whimsical world of Wonderland as their main source of inspiration. I really like Maison Martin Margiela’s take on the Tim Burton Alice we’ve seen in trailers and movie stills.

Merchandise for Alice in Wonderland has also been seen everywhere—from makeup to entire clothing lines— but I especially love the jewelry Stella McCartney designed.

Nicholas Kirkwood’s shoes here are a work of art. You can see the many influences incorporated, like the roses, checkered print, and tea set.

Teeming up with Disney to produce a collection to coincide with the release date of Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland seems like the perfect way for Tom Binns to reach his audience. If you don’t already know about him after Michelle Obama wearing his designs you’re probably living under a rock in Tim Burton induced fantasy land. The best part about this collaboration: 35 pieces will be available for $100-$500, considerably less then normal Tom Binns prices. Although 6 pieces will retail from $1,000-$2,0000, a little bit of a Tom Binns diffusion line won’t hurt anyone.

I don’t know how I let this one slip through my fingers last week, but I found now and I’m excited to share it with you. Henrik Vibskov produced one of the best looking shows to date with his latest Fall collection. The only thing I can think of when I see this is Tim Burton’s version of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, and I mean that in a very damn good way. The collection was a thrill to see on the runway, and I look forward to future shows.

The latest UK Vogue shoot is probably one of the most random I have seen in a long time. The magazine chose quotes from Roald Dahl to include in their spread consisting of Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter and random nudity. Very random.

Images have hit the web from Alice in Wonderland, the new Tim Burton production staring Mia Wasikowska, an Australian newbie, as Alice and Timmy’s boy toy Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

It’s still early in its production (the films not slated to hit theaters until 2010) but the costumes look pretty amazing.

Hopefully, Tim will give up movies and head into the world of fashion.

The Gown

This gown features a train that has been shredded to jagged edges and painted varying shades of blue. The front of the skirt has a slit edged in dark blue just like Emily’s. The blue gradates up the train all the way to the bodice. Burton swirls can be added to gown’s train or left off. The bodice is edged in dark blue which drips down the entire top of the gown. The bodice also features a tear which exposes latex ribs. The front panel of the gown can be asymmetrical or come to a point in the center. It’s up to you.

The Veil and Headpiece

The veil is made of a layer of tulle and hand painted with black Burton swirls. It is attached to a headpiece of dried vines and silk flowers. There is also a comb attached to the headpiece to keep it securely attached.
