Fashion Quoteable: Tim Gunn on Tranny Mess

Fashion Quoteable: Tim Gunn on Tranny Mess

‘[He's] Marc Jacobs for the next generation…. I expected to be wowed. You know, in my own way I’ve been in this industry for a long time, and I’m a bit jaded, but I was blown away…. I was just extremely proud of him. When I compare this collection to the collection that we saw at Project Runway for the finale, this was ‘real world.’ I would say, what I saw today represents about four or five years of evolution — not four or five months. He reallly is the next great American fashion designer, I’m confident. Holla at you boy!”

Oh Tim!

Don’t Sweat the Sweat!

Edited by

Dont Sweat the Sweat!

Oh no Tom! Should have borrowed from Katie!

Dont Sweat the Sweat!

Refuse to wear grey to a hot a sticky night club in attempts to avoid humiliating shirt discoloration? Doubling up on undershirts so your boss won’t notice you profuse sweating during that crucial board meeting? Carrying a stick of clinical strength anti-perspirant to apply during every bathroom break? Well, fear no more! Last season’s Project Runway contestants Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana have come out of the bathroom closet with their resourceful and basically foolproof way of eliminating those always mortifying pit stains. Panty-liners! Yes ladies (and gentlemen… if you have the guts to buy/borrow them), keep those panty-liners in use at any time of the month by placing them, sticky side down, in the armpits of your clothing. They collect the moisture, keep you feeling dry all day long and even give off a shower-fresh scent (if you choose the scented route!) Thanks for the idea guys! Pit stains are now one less thing Tim Gunn is concerned about!

Thanks New York Magazine and Asylum!

Tim Gunn Has A Lot of Fashion Thoughts

Tim Gunn is a fashion celebrity. He has two hit shows (Project Runway, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style), a bestselling book (Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style), and a plush job at Liz Claiborne. And it must have gone to his head, here he gives his opinion about everything from this season’s Project Runway to Miley Cyrus:

On Project Runway

‘They keep walking around telling each other how great they are, and I keep saying to them, ‘Someone is gonna go home.’

On Who Tim Thinks Should Go Home

“We have Stella and her ‘leatha,’ She’s got to get away from that, and she’s constantly defending, ‘That’s what I do.’ Then you’re nothing but a one-note. You better get prepared to pack your bags.”

Miley Cyrus

“She is just a little too tarty, forgive me, I don’t want her to look like she’s going into a convent school, but it’s just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear she was 25!”

Katie Holmes

“She went from looking like a little farm girl to looking like European royalty, Now she needs to push back a little so that she doesn’t look too dowdy or old.

Fashion Quotable: Tim Gunn

Fashion Quotable: Tim Gunn

Recently, NY Mag asked Project Runway’s Tim Gunn of his opinion on the prospective First Lady’s of the United States. Gunn boldly replied that he clearly prefered the fashionable Michelle Obama. Gunn is not merely discussing the two women’s fashion sense. He insightfully intertwines fashion choice with character

“Michelle really epitomizes American style, and she’s not afraid to show her shape, she’s not afraid to show her sexiness without being the least bit inappropriate,” Tim said. “She’s just an alluring woman. And Cindy with her suits and she’s all buttoned up, she’s just soooo — she just looks like she’s duct-taped! There is just something about her, and in a way it’s a metaphor about who she is!”

Thanks to NY Mag for the info!

Tim Gunn Teaches Time How to Make it Work!

Tim Gunn Teaches Time How to Make it Work!

The new highly anticipated season of Bravo’s,Project Runway is, thankfully, right around the corner. Time Magazine caught up with reality television’s fan favorite, Tim Gunn, for an informal interview. Lucky readers were able to probe his fashionable frame of mind, and subsequently learn how to “make it work!”

Here are excerpts from the interview:

What has been your favorite outfit designed by a contestant on Project Runway? —Rachel Thompson, Dallas
May I give two answers? For me—and it’s very emotional—it was the winning look from the very first episode of the very first season, when we took the designers to a Gristedes grocery store and Austin Scarlett made a dress out of corn husks. It was the closest to couture as a corn husk in America could possibly get. On the fashion front, it was the collaboration of Christian Soriano and Chris March on Season 4, the avant-garde challenge. That dress was magnificent.

With which designer, dead or alive, would you like to spend a lunch dishing fashion ideas?Milo Keilo, MILILANI, HAWAII

Oh, the first really seminal designer of the 20th century: Coco Chanel. That would be some lunch. If it were a living designer, there’s no one more fabulous to have lunch with than Diane von Furstenberg.

Michelle Obama or Cindy McCain? —Sharlin Aldao MIAMI LAKES, FLA.

Michelle Obama. Absolutely. She looks so comfortable and relaxed in her style, in her fashion, and she exudes that. She has a presence that gives you confidence in her.

What’s the worst fashion trend you’ve ever seen?Kay Soriano, MANILA
Well, sandals with socks are certainly up there. Generally speaking, it’s footwear trends. I mean, the Croc—it looks like a plastic hoof. How can you take that seriously? I know it’s comfortable; I understand that. But if you want to dress to feel as though you never got out of bed, don’t get out of bed.

Check out the whole interview here!
