It is always nice to see a good dose of patriotism when Mother Nature comes a knockin’.

The current catwalk record was set in 2010 by Paris’ Galeries Lafayette when 521 people strutted their stuff. But Express is determined to best them with their holiday 2011 fashion show in Times Square Saturday night.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Express will open their runway to the general public while an official from Guinness officiates. So if you’re in Midtown Saturday and you don’t mind sharing the fashion spotlight with commoners, you can be part of history.

I, for one, can never turn down a catwalk and while I have an emergency pair of stilettos in my purse at all times, I can’t really justify being in, around or near Times Square on a weekend.

Not to mention, I’d inevitably have to be removed after verbally assaulting any and every one who didn’t properly bring it to the runway. [WWD]

Lookbooks.com Co- Founder Manny Serrano, was able to catch this great action shot of photographer Patrick Demarchelier shooting the beauty. I’m surprised everyone and there mother were not trying to get into the shot. (I totally would if I wasn’t ridiculously jaded.)

I just found out about this hilarious webshow that films in Time Square. Their sixth episode featured one of my good friends Steve Kellner, the lead singer of NJ band Van Atta High. Hear about his band, and what the ‘Late Night’ host Paul Costabile has to say.  Plus, catch the hilarious sketch from the team’s ‘musical’ Los Miserobles.”  Gorilla Late Night shoots every Monday at 43rd and Broadway at 8pm, so if you’re ever in Midtown and don’t hate Times Square as much as I do, check it out!

“Pledge Allegiance to the Bag.” The New York designer preps to unleash a Times Square banner with this quotable. Tourist Chic?!?

Let me preface this by saying that Times Square is the Disneyfied asshole of New York City. No other place makes your fashionable eyes bleed more than on Broadway, where bloated tourists make their way to memorable destinations like the M&M factory or Rock of Ages. The fact that Kenneth Cole is putting money into this area only suggests that the designer has officially lost it. People in Times Square don’t buy your bags. They buy Crocs, cargo shorts, and Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese. For shame Kenneth Cole, for shame.

On a sidenote, Matisyahu will be performing at a private concert for the designer during Fashion’s Night Out on Sept 10th. Really, Matisyahu? He’s still relevant? Get some better cultural advisors at that place Kenny, he had one barely notable hit 3 years ago and since hasn’t wowed any of us with his wannabe-rastaisms.

Turn on the radio, or at least check out BrooklynVegan every so often, music, much like designers who lack “awareness”, regularly go out of season.
