Just as Phish has the power to transform a venue into a free deal-for-all kind of village, so do psychedelics have the ability to transform you into some semblance of a free spirit. LUISAVIAROMA FA10

In response to the Margiela heels in my last post, William (damn you again!!) tipped me off to these FA10 Margiela boots at Luisaviaroma which apparently have a metal horse shoe heel. I love horses and I love Margiela, well how about that? Of course I couldn’t close the screen without doing my seasonal oogling of Luisaviaroma’s other new offerings either.

Not that I can afford any of these, but you bet your ass I can oogle with the best of them. More importantly, I’m a mean stalker and can hunt down a good bargain. Maybe some of these will last through the next round of sales? I’m not much of an impulse buyer anyway, so if I still want something in 6 months or a year and somehow I miraculously find it, then it’s meant to be! Otherwise, there will always be another season to torture me.

*for some reason I’ve been obsessing over the idea of red tights with red shoes these days.

I’m always a little nervous to use a clutch purse when going out in the city, but should I snag me one of these collaborated purses between Corto Moltedo and designer Tom Binns, being mugged is the last thing I’ll have to worry about! I’m not quite sure if this is an art piece or a practical purse, but nonetheless, long live the spikes!

Tom Binns Alice In Wonderland Inspired Jewelry Collection

Teeming up with Disney to produce a collection to coincide with the release date of Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland seems like the perfect way for Tom Binns to reach his audience. If you don’t already know about him after Michelle Obama wearing his designs you’re probably living under a rock in Tim Burton induced fantasy land. The best part about this collaboration: 35 pieces will be available for $100-$500, considerably less then normal Tom Binns prices. Although 6 pieces will retail from $1,000-$2,0000, a little bit of a Tom Binns diffusion line won’t hurt anyone.

Tom Binns statement making jewelry is consistently impressive, and with Michelle Obama as a customer you really can’t dispute his talent. The preview of his Autumn/Winter line looks like classic Tom Binns, plenty of sparkle with a punky edge.

When the phrase “fine jewelry” is said, bent forks and flea market charms don’t usually come to mind. But Belfast born Tom Binns decided to work against the norm. He graduated in 1981 from Middlesex Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Arts degree in jewelry design. Influenced by the Dada cultural movement, Binns created his own avant-garde collection of “Object Trouves.” His collaboration with Vivian Westwood and Malcolm Maclaren titled “Punk Couture” was a perfect way of showing his design style. His spectacular pieces have been featured on the pages of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue for nearly two decades.

Besides Vivian Westwood, Los Angeles-based Binns has collaborated with such designers as Calvin Klein and Isaac Mizrahi. He also received the CFDA award for best accessories designer in 2006. Binns draws design inspiration from the environment around him, everyday objects and even what some people consider garbage. He uses flea market gems, shards of beach glass, seashells and vintage diamonds to create some truly mind-blowing pieces. Check out Binns’ jewelry at Henri Bendel.
