Three Jewelry Designers in One Rock Band Open Ocean

Edited by

The fine women you see below jamming on their American opus  Shiny Gun are the band Open Ocean. All with southern roots and Brooklyn homes, they also all happen to be independent jewelry designers. Let me introduce to you: Dirty Librarian Chains on the keys, SFK on guitar and main vocals, Cheek-ie on drums. Basil Whatley grooves on bass and is also from the south, but does not make jewelry, and thus not in the shot. Though he is a badass graphic designer. I crashed their rehearsal the other night at Sound City in Williamsburg, and caught a short vid of the waves of cool funk and post-punk disco rising in the intimate practice space. Some of the outdoor photogs are sourcing these looks to bring back to their companies to replicate, that’s how much we’re turning it. See the standouts of The Werqing Class.

Net-a-Porter Ranks Most Powerful Blogs, FashionIndie Snubbed Once Again

Edited by

Online super retailer Net-a-Porter asked a panel of industry experts, including Paper Magazine‘s Mickey Boardman, gal about town and Harper’s Bazaar Editor-at-Large Derek Blasberg and Bloglovin’ founder Mattias Swenson to select their top ten favorite blogs. If FashionIndie hadn’t done enough coke at 54 to powder the nose of every actress in Hollywood ten times over thus rendering all emotions dead below the larynx, our feelings would be super hurt right now. Check out the list below, if you care to (you shouldn’t).
