And in the June issue of GQ, he takes a moment from bullying Tavi Gevinson to rain a few F-bombs all over the magazine industry, Dolce & Gabbana and the president of Saks Fifth Ave. 

The Sartorialist Has Got a Bone to Pick with...Everyone

On magazines: “It shocks me when young kids still say, ‘I want to do a magazine.’ Really? Do you want to do a magazine because you want to be an editor — what you think that life is, that romance — or do you want to communicate? Because if you want to communicate, why the fuck would you put all those obstacles in your path and have to print pages, as opposed to going right on the Internet and actually communicating?”

On being seated front row at a D&G show along with Garance Doré, Tommy Ton and Bryanboy in 2009, where they were all given laptops on podiums: “They got a humongous amount of press. ‘Look, we brought the bloggers in and gave them the front row. Look at the dancing-monkey bloggers!’ I could barely bring myself to sit down…Like, ‘Ugh, I don’t want everyone looking at us.’ Like, ‘Oh, look at the cute bloggers! Isn’t that cute! Are they playing Angry Birds?’ When you’ve got Ron Frasch [president and chief merchandising officer of Saks Incorporated] behind you going, ‘I spent two fucking million dollars on D&G’s last collection, and I’m sitting here? For these little schmucks?’”

On being introduced to Ron Frasch as a stay-at-home dad : “He’s looking right over my head and I remember thinking, I’m gonna make this fucking blog so he looks at me when I’m talking to him.”

While being interviewed, Frasch and Schuman cross paths and Schuman, it seems, has gotten his wish:

“Hey, Ron.”

“Hey, Scott,” says Ron, politely but without slowing down.

“Happy New Year, buddy,” Schuman says.

All with southern roots and Brooklyn homes, they also all happen to be independent jewelry designers. Let me introduce to you: Dirty Librarian Chains on the keys, SFK on guitar and main vocals, Cheek-ie on drums. Basil Whatley grooves on bass and is also from the south, but does not make jewelry, and thus not in the shot. Though he is a badass graphic designer. I crashed their rehearsal the other night at Sound City in Williamsburg, and caught a short vid of the waves of cool funk and post-punk disco rising in the intimate practice space. Pardon any rockiness, it was making my body bounce.

Susan Domelsmith may tickle the ivories in the Open Ocean, but behind closed doors, she's a Dirty Librarian... making Chains. She rescues her materials from shuttered factories and morphs them into layers of jewelry. Like this one made out of an old chandelier. And a guitar strap that's also a belt. Bam.

Sarah Frances Kuhn, the front lady of Open Ocean, tricks out cameras on the side. The former Accessories Director of Teen Vogue is tricking out the cameras of street style bloggers like Tommy Ton, The Facehunter and The Hanneli.

Angela Barrow, pumping the heartbeat on the drumkit, also has a soft spot for jewelry. In fact, all of her accessories are made from fabric over fluffy cotton. Light yet thick. That's
