Uniqlo: Summer 2009 Collection

Edited by

Uniqlo: Summer 2009 CollectionUniqlo goes platinum with their photoshoot for their Summer collection by chosing Luke Worrall and Agyness Deyn. The collection is a mix of pastel colors and plaids which really make for a great warm weather look. I never imagined I would say this, but seeing Agyness Deyn popping up in campaigns again is a breathe of fresh air, because I have been so sick these celebrity campaigns. Might I add, is her hair getting a bit longer too?

Deyn Does Uniqlo

Edited by

Deyn Does UniqloDeyn Does UniqloDeyn Does UniqloThe Japanese basic fashion store, Uniqlo, recently nabbed Agyness Deyn for their summer sports campaign. According to Uniqlo’s marketing and press agents, Deyn represents a “fresh” and “youthful” face for the line, which is slated to hit the United States on June 1st. Seeing that Deyn is all over runways, spreads, campaigns and tabloids, I wouldn’t exactly consider the model “fresh” and since she’s looking pretty tired and worn out in these images, “youthful” is a bit of a stretch.

STREET ZEROES: Lady Gaga Must Be Pissed Someone Stole Her Look

STREET ZEROES: Lady Gaga Must Be Pissed Someone Stole Her Look

It’s called Tim Whitby. I don’t know where it came from but after three hours of attempting to flush it down the toilet after I squashed it with my size 14 trainers, it decided it wasn’t dead and attempted to disco dance with me. Fortunately, the window was open so I chucked it out to enjoy a four story faceplant. True story.

New York based fashion labels Opening Ceremony and Gilded Age are next in line to design menswear for Uniqlo. Under the design invitation project they have been commissioned to produce a spring summer capsule collection, and in addition womenswear is to be fronted by Shipley & Halmos and Steven Alan.

Opening Ceremony will offer ‘neat collar and fit given to balanced plaid shirting in blue, green and pink and shorter (just above the ankle) cargo pants which feature a more wider shape – mirroring the changing fashion silhouette – finished with a lightweight shawl collar jacket. Compulsory knitwear comes in complimentary tones of beige and blue, along with slim cut trousers and matching fitted jacket.’

Gilded Age offers up a more ‘relaxed fit and shorts are prevalent in a variety of checks and come cropped at the knee. Scarves are worn over muted jackets, check shirts and soft cotton Henley neck t-shirts (in red, greys and blue), paired with chinos.’

Opening Ceremony for Uniqlo collection going into UK stores on 19th March.

Cheap-o Depot Stores Reign Victorious!

Edited by

Cheap o Depot Stores Reign Victorious! With crumbling labels and sales that seem more like full price than closeout deals, the shopping world looks bleak. But if there is anything to rely on, fast fashion stores are better than ever, helping out the underdog and protecting our pocketbooks. Stores like H&M and Mango reported growth in 2008 and already have noticed their sale increase helping the economy! H&M is committed to opening 225 stores worldwide (adding 7000 jobs) while Mango intends to open 150 stores. Although these successes are major competition for stores like Forever 21,  Zara and Uniqlo, maybe they will be inspiration for other stores to get their acts together. If all else fails, you can expect some mad good sales!

Initial Uniqlo Designer Invitation Project Failing to Impress

Initial Uniqlo Designer Invitation Project Failing to Impress

I hate to say it but something about the new series of designer looks hitting Uniqlo doesn’t give me a rise.

It looks like the same basic things that have been shipped out for the past couple months at Target. I really love the designers they selected, but come on I need some excitement, some vavavoom in my collabos, especially after I J’d in my P’s after seeing the new Target/McQueen collection.

Uniqlo has good about selecting designers but seems to drop the ball when it comes to producing the collections. Anyone who regretfully headed to the store to grab the Alexander Wang pieces they threw together last year would know what I’m talking about.

Hopefully, there is more to see as the launch nears.

Till then unexitedly yours,

Daniel Saynt
