Always willing to take the diva schtick to levels even Diana Ross would look at twice before saying, “Really, tranny?,” Mimi is emancipated once again — though this time it’s from that tank she was huffing around in during her 23-month pregnancy. After losing 70 lbs — 40 in water weight during the first week, the other 30 using Jenny (née Craig) — the first thing the songbird did was strip down and whip out her best late-90s hoochie for a new commercial. And she didn’t even have to resort to any completely obvious camera trickery — key words being “completely obvious.”

In a major coup for her neverending comeback, diva-extraordinaire Jennifer Lopez has given her first post-divorce interview to Vanity Fair — not to tabloid trash like People or Us Weekly, thank you very much — for the all-important September issue, featuring their “72nd International Best-Dressed List.” Honestly, whoever’s pulling the strings behind the scenes of La Lopez Inc. knows exactly what they’re doing. I’m not saying this divorce was planned but the next step would have been rehab.

Now that awards season has descended upon us all like a blizzard of sequins and tulle, the nation’s red carpets will be crowded with starlets jockeying for attention. Some of them will be there with acceptance speeches in tow, and others will just be happy to be nominated. Then there are those so-called actresses who barely go to the movies let alone star in them, yet are there because they love wearing gowns, heels and chandelier earrings. Their presence is not offensive, rather, they are often among the best dressed…but I defy you to name one movie you’ve seen them in within the last year.

I have to admit, I love me some celebrity. And although some of the gossip may be dumb and clearly made up, I always feel like I have to know what’s going on in their little world. But there’s always those magazines that take it a bit too far, those magazines that make us obsessed and over the top. Take for example Us Weekly, who has just announced the release of a new magazine called Us Hair. An entire magazine dedicated completely to celebrity hairstyles! Couldn’t they have just made a spread in the original Us? A whole magazine, really?
