The self-made, rough-and-tumble glamour of Courtney Love couldn’t feel more of-the-moment. In an ode to the queen of grunge, whose album is out this month, supermodel Natasha Poly piles on the ruffles, prints, and girlish fineries of spring.

Although the release date has yet to be announced, “Nobody’s Daughter,” the fourth studio album by Hole, is set for release later this month. V63 does not hit newsstands until January 14, 2010.

Artist Jonathan Horowitz is known for his smart and subversive artworks that comment on fame, politics, pop culture, and society. In an exclusive project for V, he combines a taste for kitsch vintage figurines with some of the boldest names in the fashion stratosphere to produce a clever send-up of personality and iconography. Coming off a survey exhibition at New York’s P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Horowitz is keeping plenty of worthy targets in his crosshairs. Here are a few of his fashion favorites.

An unlikely person for the V Magazine size issue cover…

Not trying to sound mean, but Gabourey seems like the perfect cover star for the V Mag size issue.

V Mag’s January 2010 issue will be devoted to plus-size models. “Big, little, pint-size, plus-size — every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it,” V editor Stephen Gan said.

Models include Crystal Renn, who is quite famous in the world of modeling, and scheduled photogs include Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber, and Karl Lagerfeld (who is a total fatist), among others.

You can never go wrong with black and white. This simple seamless backdrop brings all the attention to the intricate designs of the dresses and jutting collarbones of the models, Vanderperre did a great job with ‘Venus Envy.’

This editorial shoot for V Magazine has a creepy quality, with a few mascara-running shots worthy of a horror film, but nonetheless, the washed out skin tones and contrasting black and white dresses bring together fantasy dreams and nightmares.

Out this week, this racy and controversial photoshoot has taken media by storm. Even Gisele admits these pictures, taken by fashion photographer Mario Testino, are a little over the top for her, saying they’re the kind of pictures “only Mario could make me take.”

These honestly belong in more of a Playboy than V Mag, but what do I know, Gisele is HOT! I think these photos make every woman jealous (at least me) and every man drop to his knees. Smart girl, she was off the radar for a bit, and now these bring her back with a Bang!
