Black and white has made a surprise appearance during the spring/summer 2010 shows this Fashion Week in Paris. Among shades of beige and color, the black & white combo has been seen head to toe— well, head to knee in the case of Vanessa Bruno, whose collection showcased a number of stretch lace knee-pads.

White isn’t a stranger to the warmer months, but most people tend to stray from dark colors like black when the sun is out. Will you be wearing this black and white pairing come next season?

Vanessa Bruno Fall 2009 might have leaned to the simpler side of edgy, but her collection definitely had some pieces worth mentioning. First and foremost, I am a huge fan of her subtle military look for this collection. Gold shoulder detailing gave the feeling of military tassels while leather belt-bags hinted at traveling troops. The modest draped tops and mainstream leather leggings were spiced up with baggy, belted knee-high leather boots and pull-over knit caps, both reminiscent of the military. Bruno’s collection was the perfect amount of edge and simplicity, making for a beautifully wearable collection come fall.
