To celebrate the release of his book, Power Dressing: First Ladies, Women Politicians & Fashion, author Robb Young asked a few of fashion’s best and fiercest — including Simon Doonan and Nicola Formichetti — to style some of the most powerful women in the world with the help of illustrator Charlotte Hoyle. The result finds nary a pantsuit or a sweaterset in sight.

The young, bright designer Christopher Kane was announced the 2011 winner of the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Award by British Vogue‘s editor Alexandra Shulman and the British Fashion Council. Kane is receiving a little more than $300,000 to further his already successful business. He defeated very stiff competition including designers Richard Nicoll, Charlotte Olympia, Nicholas Kirkwood, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, E. Tautz and Osman Yousefzada.

Orange in far from my favorite color, but I was happy to see such a bright outlook for spring. Yes, New York, there are other colors besides black.
I love the three above looks from Jil Sander, Prada and Versus, respectively. My closet is already filled with bright hues, but I am looking forward to adding more come spring.
