SPREAD: “Daily Bread” Flamboyant Magazine The Hate Issue
I know I say this a lot, but really, this is the coolest spread I’ve ever seen! The creatives at Flamboyant Magazine shot a variety of breads painted with different designer staple patterns for “The Hate Issue.” Despite the many phallic shaped breads, this is quite the clever way to market the many labels, from Burberry to Vivienne Westwood, featured in this spread!

Ben Westwood Brings Celebrity Spawn Worship to Hollywood

Enfant terrible son of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Ben Westwood, is creating an American version of his Spawn: Bound exhibition which will open in New York in September 2009. Subjects will include Paris Hilton, Liv Tyler, Gwyenth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, “all ?bound by the umbilical cord of their parents fame”,? says Ben.
The British version of Spawn:Bound is currently showing at the Bodhi Gallery, 214 Brick Lane in London until the 10th June where his subjects include Sting?s daughter Coco Sumner, Rod Stewart?s daughter Kimberly Stewart, Sir Paul McCartney?s daughter Stella McCartney and Sir Mick Jagger?s offspring Jade & Elizabeth Jagger etc.
Finally some art I actually care about. Wonder if he’s working on all celebrity spawn in the US. Nicole Richie and Miley Cyrus definitely need to be bound.

FIRST LOOK: L.A.M.B. Fall 2009

It’s hard to believe that L.A.M.B., Gwen Stefani’s line with her stylist, Andrea Lieberman, and designer Zaldy Gogo, is in its fifth year already.
But it’s still going strong, dressing Gwen for tours and music videos, and outfitting fans with clothes and accessories. And staying true to form, L.A.M.B’s Fall/Winter 2009/2010 is unabashedly Vivienne Westwood-inspired, and in line with Gwen’s off-stage image.
Full of leather, plaid, fitted jackets, and oversize collars, the collection has just enough of a rock n roll flavor to keep it from being costumey.

High End Fashion’s Retreat from Moscow

The most expensive city in the world, Moscow has seen a downgrade in its available fashions. Once a home to all big luxury retailers, the time has come for many to move on.
Designers are closing their Russian outposts and retreating from Moscow after months of disappointing sales, with Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood among those forced to pull down the shutters. This includes other Euorpean designers such as Dior and Chanel.

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009
Trampy school-girl outfits aren’t just for Britney Spears’ music videos anymore. Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label launched a fall line, slightly more couture than 2006’s sale rack at JC Penney. Besides the fact that I practically clawed my eyes out when Pamela Anderson took the runway, the clothes did little to nothing to redeem the collection. Cheap draped jerseys, poncho dresses, tweed emblem blazers and mix-matches of plaid were completely not runway worthy. I would almost rather be tackled by a team of rugby players than wear Westwood’s take on the preppy rugby dress. Damn, and I was on a nice streak too…

Giorgio Armani’s Feathers Get Tattered and FURled

What happens when you squelch on a promise made with PETA? First they get their creative team to design a quirky poster to point out your inhumanity. Then they send hundreds of supporters to protest with the posters. Oh, and sometimes they go as far as taking a full page ad in Variety just to make their point.
The new “Pinocchio Armani” advertisement is not only a ploy for embarrassing payback, but a plea for those attending this year’s Oscars to avoid Armani garments. The animal rights group has even taken the liberty of writing to Oscar nominees, encouraging them to wear the fur-free designs of Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger and Vivienne Westwood.
I must admit, the advertisement made me laugh, but I guess we’ll see who’s laughing when Armani remains a red-carpet hit or PETA sticks it to the man.

ADDICT: Vivienne Westwood S/S 09 Ad Campaign Starring Pamela Anderson

I love Vivienne Westwood because she is crazy and awesome and super creative. I also love that she had the balls to star Pamela “tits-too-big” Anderson for her latest ad campaign. I first made a face of disgust when I saw this, but the more photos I viewed, the more they grew on me. I absolutely love this shot of them in the laundromat wearing out-of control-outfits. I didn’t realize that punk rock London and Los Angeles bimbo could work so well together!

Vivienne Westwood to Write Sex and the City Sequel?
The multitasking never ends! As if giving the fashion world modern punk designs weren’t enough for the British designer, Vivienne Westwood has high hopes to write the sequel to the Sex and the City film. Recently, Westwood wrote to the producers of the hit television show and film, asking them to use her ingenious plot for the next big screen hit. Sources say that Westwood has been “obsessed” with the movie since its release and that the designer has even contacted lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker about her plan to write the sequel. As many of you know, Vivienne Westwood designed the wedding dress in which Sarah Jessica Parker appeared in the film, but had nothing nice to say about stylist Patricia Field’s designs. Westwood declared that there was nothing cutting-edge or interesting about the fashions she saw in the first firm and, disgusted, left the movie premier after only ten minutes! This may be an over-analyzed prediction, but it seems to me that if Westwood were to write the sequel, she would design and style too! Although the production company for the sequel has yet to make a decision on Westwood’s offer, it seems like the designer has a lot on her plate!
Thanks Telegraph!
