While I’d love to believe that Nicola Formichetti exists solely to do Lady Gaga‘s fashion bidding, that simply isn’t the case. Jo Calderone might actually be the most reserved man Formichetti has styled to date. Boy is at werq in Japan turning out cover after editorial of monstrous male beauty for Vogue Hommes Japan. He’s also been killing it in Dazed & Confused and V Man. Take a look.

Daisuke Ueda covers Vogue Hommes Japan‘s “Eastern Promise” issue – out March 10th – shot by Steven Klein and styled by Nicola Formichetti — prompting me to ask, who else is excited for the Mugler show today?! If not, here’s a potential reason to get your shit together: Lady Gaga is not only the show’s musical director but is also making her runway debut as a model and previewing her new song, “Government Hooker.”

Nicola Formichetti was busy in 2010 keeping Gaga in meat gowns and machine gun bustiers. Along the way he even managed to style a few editorial spreads and ad campaigns. No doubt he was one of the driving creative forces for the past 12 months, but what were his favorite moments?

Lensed by Mariano Vivanco, Christopher Landon looks especially dashing striking a pose in a voluminous cape, hat at a dramatic angle.

Yes, it’s been done before, but a raw meat bikini has never looked this good. Lady Gaga poses on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan wearing nothing but red lipstick and pieces of delicious steak. I love a sexy cover that will piss-off PETA!

Brad Bowers was scouted in the East Village (near the Fashion Indie offices) by George Brown of Red Models. Within two weeks he was shipped to Cali to shoot with Hedi Slimane. These are the shots which will be featured in new Vogue Hommes Japan. Styling by Nicola Formichetti.
