Aline Weber Rocks Out with Her Couture Out in Vogue Japan

Just one look at Aline Weber in “The Girl Who Rocks the Planet” from the latest issue of Vogue Nippon and it’s immediately evident who styled it. Living Bratz doll Anna Dello Russo has her kooky claw prints all over this editorial, shot by Giampaolo Sgura in arcades and on the streets of Tokyo. The lion heads, the Balmain, the Cavalli, the Versace, the statemenet eyewear and headgear — disco ball motorcycle helmet anyone? — it all speaks to Dello Russo’s fashion-is-fun/more-is-more aesthetic as well as her own personal style. I mean, I’ve feel like I’ve seen the lady herself in a number of these looks, or at least will in the near future. Take a saunter with Aline through the land that Hello Kitty built in “The Girl Who Rocks the Planet.”

INDIE REWIND: 10 Poses to Get You into Vogue

Having paged through my fair share of Vogues since acquiring my first issue some ten years ago, I’ve picked up a trick or two. There are certain poses models always do – poses that are “classic Vogue.” So to master these is to get one horse-like step closer to those hallowed, glossy editorial pages.

1. The Stride What you're thinking: I'm on my way to werq, get out of my way -- oh, look a camera -- I'm giving -- now I'm walking away. What you're doing: Walking slow enough to get in frame and making sure your legs are spread wide enough apart for a dynamic shot.

2. The Editorial Jump What you're thinking: You know I feel so great right now I'm just going to fly everywhere I go today, while still looking relatively motionless. Oh, look a unicorn...gorjuss. What you're doing: Squatting before jumping and giving face at the apex of your jump.

3. The Pensive Jut What you're thinking: I'm deep in thought -- about what, who cares? But I'm looking at the solution to all my problems way off in the distance...and it just winked at me. What you're doing: Hand on hip, other hand at an opposing but complimentary angle with one leg straight and the other slightly bent.

4. In Repose What you're thinking: Ugh, it's sooooo hard being this glamorous, but I've got to keep it together. Waiter, where's my goddamn cocktail? Oh, there it is...with a Vicodin chaser. Quelle surprise. What you're doing: Staggering your legs, framing your face with your arms, sucking everything in and finding your light.

5. The Stroll What you're thinking: Oh, look! I'm walking again! This is becoming a habit. I'm going about my way, but for some reason everyone around me keeps dying of envy...and I. Love it. What you're doing: Catwalking towards the camera slowly either giving full face to the camera or feigning distraction.

6. The Broken-Down Doll What you're thinking: I haven't eaten in 4 weeks, my coke dealer isn't picking up his phone and if someone doesn't pour something alcoholic in, on or near me, I'm literally going to die. But I look great, right? What you're doing: Weird angles, lots of slouching, while still showing the garment.

7. The Wistful Coo What you're thinking: I'm caught in a violent hurricane of couture but my inner calm -- brought on by years of yoga and a small army of morally-suspect pharmacists -- keeps me the smizing eye of the storm. What you're doing: A slight hunch, a graceful hand and an expression that says you might not really know where you are.

8. The Dynamic Sit What you're thinking: Yes, this is sitting but you know what this isn't: Super Bowl Sunday. So I'm not lounging back with a bowl of goddamn nachos in my lap. Pardon me while I throw this leg up and concentrate on being effortless. What you're doing: Hunching, creating angles with your legs and space with your arms.

9. The Couture Hunch What you're thinking: I'm so thin that to prevent my ribs from caving in on themselves I have to hold them in place. I may have dropped a lung while in mid-hunch, but I dare you to tell from my face. What you're doing: Arms akimbo, you hunch until you're basically doubling over and sucking in everything while splaying your legs out at awkward angles.

10. The Dynamic Stand What you're thinking: Here I am, world! Take a good long look because I just officially shut shit down and own every one of you. You're welcome. What you're doing: Once again, arms akimbo, but a strong stance that is at once seductive and powerful.

How About Some Rainbow Hair To Go With That Versace?

Versace has been gaining momentum these past few months after first announcing a collaboration with H&M, and it doesn’t show signs of stopping. For the February 2012 issue of Vogue Nippon, models Lindsay Ellingson, Simon Nessman and Vika Falileeva are decked-out in the brand from head-to-toe with colorful hair to match by Oribe. Though not reaching the racy heights of our favorite vintage Versace ads, photographer Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele did a fine job with Keeping the Faith and giving us the attitude we can always expect from stepping into a full-on look from Donatella. To paraphrase the immortal Miss Vida Bohemme, I think today is a “say something hat” day. Lori Goldstein outfits the always impeccably fierce Crystal Renn in a plethora of statement-making headgear for Vogue Nippon‘s “A Call for Camp,” photographed by Nathaniel Goldberg.

Accounting-firm-in-waiting, Goldstein and Goldberg, called for camp so Crystal picked up the phone, took a detailed message and showed up ready to werq. The result is a fun, vibrant story to which any drag queen would give her proverbial snaps.

- Vogue Nippon‘s Anna Dello Russo has had her incredible style immortalized with her very own Barbie. Mario Paglino and Gianni Cossi of Magia 2000 created the custom doll in the Dolce & Gabbana lace dress and leopard clutch Dello Russo wore to the Burberry Spring 2011 men’s show. - Models Agyness Deyn and David Gandy and designer Henry Holland ran the London Marathon on Sunday. Holland shut it down with a time of 3h 28m — maybe his running gear had something to do with it. Gandy came in with a time of 4h 35m and Aggy in 4h 45m, despite bad knees from a skiing accident and running in 5-inch heels, respectively. [Vogue UK]

- Jason Wu clearly needs to get into the prom dress business. After dressing Karlie Kloss in 2009, the designer outfitted junior super Lindsey Wixon for the prom over the weekend. - Sister Act on Broadway means two things: 1.) Me front-row screaming “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” and 2.) 7,000 Swarovski crystals running through 23 of the show’s costumes. Patina Miller will don the sparkling habit when she makes her Broadway debut as Deloris Van Cartier, the role originated by EGOT-er and professional grumpygoose, Whoops Goldberg. [Racked]

- Lady Gaga‘s newest single “Judas” leaked on the internet and The Catholic League is already up on the cross about it. The song will be officially released tomorrow, the 19th and the accompanying video will feature Gaga portraying Mary Magdalene. After we posted the last spread, I noticed that the title of the post was misspelled. The word ‘privilege‘ is spelled WITHOUT a ‘d’, but they included one and I’m wondering how Vogue Nippon could have made such a spelling error. Do you think the magazine needs a better spell checker or are they just hoping we wouldn’t notice? For all the asshole commentors who like to point out our own flawed grammar take note. Even Vogue makes mistakes!

I absolutely adore this look from the Louis Vuitton Spring 09 runway. One outfit styled two different ways for two different magazine covers is quite interesting. Julia Dunstall for the Febuary 09 issue of L’Occiciel is wearing the more understated version; solely the outfit sans accessories. Simple makeup and hair prove this look can stand on its own. Anna Selezneva for the Febuary 09 issue of Vogue Nippon looks like she walked right off the runway. Multiple necklaces and heavy bangles accessorize the look without making it seem cluttered. Damn I need this outfit!

Oh how I long for summer. This ultra-steamy spread by photographer Solve Sundsbo for Vogue Nippon makes me want to jet off to South America. The colors of the garments are so phenomenal, I actually don’t feel as cold as I did five minutes ago. Model Freja Beha knows how to make sweaty look sexy. Maybe I should take some notes for summer’s 95 degree subway rides.
