SPREAD: Ranya Mordanova for Vogue Russia November 2009
Photographer: Tom Munro
Model: Ranya Mordanova
COVER: Tori Praver for Vogue Russia

Hawaiian hottie Tori Praver is on the cover of the upcoming Russian Vogue.
Dree Hemingway for Vogue Russia August ‘09
Dree Hemingway graces the cover of Vogue Russia, I’m happy it’s for a foreign country so I don’t have to see it on every news stand I walk past. We all know Miss Hemingway is only famous because of her last name, and I don’t even mind her up and coming It-Girl status but I am not a fan of this cover. I love the styling and it works well with the vintage theme we have been seeing, but her face here is totally off.

RANDOM COOL: Vogue Russia’s Designer Babooshkas

For the 10th Anniversary of Vogue Russia 31 designers created these Babooshkas that perfectly represent the look of their brand. As im sure you can tell, above if Burberry and Ralph Lauren; below is Yves Saint Laurent and Roberto Cavalli. I have acquired a few of these in my childhood and would love to ad any of these to my collection. Check the source to see the rest of the designers creations.

PHOTOGRAPHER TO KNOW: Eolo Perfido
From these pictures alone, Eolo Perfido proves to have creepy, glamorous, and commercial photography in his repertoire. He’s worked for Ad Agencies JWT, BBDO, and Saatchi & Saatchi, and has also been featured in Vogue Russia and the New York Times. I was utterly impressed with Perfido until I saw the last photo…Indiana Jones plays soccer and drinks Pepsi? I don’t even know what’s going on there, but hey, I guess you have to make your money somehow so you can keep taking pictures of little red riding hoods in wolf masks.

And The Ears Are Back…
We first saw them on Madonna at the Met Gala, but the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 bunny-ears are actually not as interesting looking in person as they are on the runway or in editorials, like in the above from Vogue Russia June 09.
SPREAD UM: Natalia Vodianova By Alasdair McLellan For Vogue Russia June ‘09

The Louis Vuitton hairpieces worn by Natalia Vodianova in Vogue Russia give this shoot a vintage Playboy/oldschool Madonna feel. I love her dark eye makeup and these bunny-like bows.
SPREAD UM: Jourdan Dunn by Jason Kibbler for Vogue Russia

Jason Kibbler shot Jourdan Dunn for Vogue Russia, who displays her versatility in these shots. From beginning to end, Dunn goes from high society (in Dior), to high jumping (and her legs look gorgeous, I might add). The only thing I’m not crazy about in this jump is her left wrist…I think the America’s Next Top Model judges would probably agree.

VINTAGE SPREAD UM: Vogue Russia August 06
A not so appropriate spread, since it’s spring time and there is tons of fur here, but the photography is beautiful. I love the contrast of the brightly colored garments with the dark musky background.

There might be a lot going on in Vogue Russia’s upcoming spread, but the artist’s studio scene is completely working for me! Shot by Tom Munro, ”Mass Cult” really focuses on the bare essentials, getting down to the skimpy mini cocktails and some lingerie. The editorial really pays tribute to some quite incredible heels as well as some breathtaking jewelry (the massive silver chains anyone!?) But despite the great spread idea, I’m a bit disappointed that you can’t see detailing of the clothes or shoes. Enough with the bottom of shoes and the arms in the way!

MAG HAG: Magdalena Frackowiak for Vogue Russia

Polish modle Magdalena Frackowiak wears Jean Paul Gaultier on the cover of the May 2009 issue of Vogue Russia. Love that the sailor/nautical look never goes out of style, and is brought back every summer. Also find it interesting that the entire cover is in the Russian traditional colors: white (meaning nobility and sincerity), blue (for truthfulness, commitment and purity), and red (which stands for bravery, valor and love).
MAG HAG: Georgia May Jagger for Vogue Russia

In the April issue of Vogue Russia, photographer Matt Irvin brings out the sex appeal in Georgia May Jagger. Most of us think of Lara Stone when the mention of blond hair and gap teeth comes up in conversation, but I think Lara Stone should watch her career with this young fresh starlet on the rise.

SPREAD UM: Charlotte Hoyer for Vogue Russia

Scandinavian model Charlotte Hoyer starred in a spread for the latest issue of Vogue Russia. Lying in what looks like an adorable, vintage pin-up bathing costume, Hoyer is swimming in a sea of male model bodies. I wish I could see her headpiece better; her entire outfit is completely adorable.

SPREAD UM: Awesome Spread Shot by Angelo Pennetta for Vogue Russia

This recent spread in Vogue Russia takes me to a circus funeral shot in film noir. Even though I can’t read the copy, I love it. It’s amazing to me that every country’s Vogue except America’s has the coolest and most innovative photography and conceptual ideas. What does that tell you Indies? I think it’s time for a big change.

Leo Krumbacher shot doll-like Eva Poloniova for the February 2009 cover of ELLE Russia.

Mag Hag: Naomi Cambell for Vogue Russia
The superhero trend is invading international fashion publications with Naomi Campbell posing as Catwoman in the December 2008 issue of Vogue Russia. The sizzling hot supermodel brings a whole new hotness to Catwoman by posing topless in one of the shots.
