Having paged through my fair share of Vogues since acquiring my first issue some ten years ago, I’ve picked up a trick or two. There are certain poses models always do – poses that are “classic Vogue.” So to master these is to get one horse-like step closer to those hallowed, glossy editorial pages.

Lily Cole shares the spotlight with an exquisite panther in the January 2012 issue of Vogue Russia. Posing alongside the wildcat, Cole gives good face for photographer Anthony Maule in looks from Louis Vuitton, Marni and Alexander McQueen. Styled by fashion editor Ekaterina Mukhina, it looks like Cole and cat are about to blast off into the future in their white-washed spacecraft.

What do a gun fanny pack, fringed suede pants and a cow skull necklace embellished with crystals have in common? I am obsessed with them in this spread for the March 2011 issue of Vogue Russia. American model Jacquelyn Jablonski shows us what cowgirls are made of, wearing knee-length braids, denim shirts and heavily embellished accessories. Styled by Olga Dunina, pieces from Pamela Love, Blumarine, Ralph Lauren and Stetson were used to create this western fantasy shot by Jason Kibbler. There’s something about western style that always makes me long for summer. Sigh.
