While she is no longer the editrice of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld is still turning it out, now on her own terms. In her latest project, she styled the Barneys lookbook, gathering a collection of werqing women that move her, and dressed them in that way that made French Vogue so epic. Here, we’ve taken five of our favorite looks and (though we’d love to go to Barneys for them, a. these pieces are not available online, and b. pshh we wish) found their essences for less.

Happy Birthday Stella McCartney! I never would have guessed she turned 40 today – positively gorjuss. And what a thrilling year she’s had: a store opening within Saks Fifth Ave, a contract to design the British Olympic uniforms, a stunning well-received Fall 2011 collection, and the opportunity to costume the MET ballet, Ocean’s Kingdom. Not only did the latter allow her to employ all she has learned at ADIDAS and with designing for the Olympics in a far more artful manner, but it gave her a chance to work professionally with the ballet’s composer, her father, Sir Paul McCartney.

While I’d love to believe that Nicola Formichetti exists solely to do Lady Gaga‘s fashion bidding, that simply isn’t the case. Jo Calderone might actually be the most reserved man Formichetti has styled to date. Boy is at werq in Japan turning out cover after editorial of monstrous male beauty for Vogue Hommes Japan. He’s also been killing it in Dazed & Confused and V Man. Take a look.
